I’ve driven many cars over the years and I’ve never heard any other engine make that noise. I’m not sure how you claim that offensive sharp chirp sound is normal.

If it’s normal then they should be able to tell you what it is. What part is making this “normal” sound.
My worry with this is that they may just say it’s part of the way the engine sounds. The hellcats have the hemi chirp that is caused by the way the headers are designed and they just tell everyone it is what it is.

But Ram at least knew what the sound was. In this case they’re just claiming it’s normal, which is unlikely since I’ve had two 24R’s, one made the sound and one did not.

Hey Guys,

So I’ve been watching some videos from the previous gen 5.0s I had previously mentioned. I had referenced a thread earlier that mentioned unplugging vct while car making noise and the fix. Dealer has said they did unplug vct and noise did not go away.

Here’s some videos where the fix was the timing chain tensioner. I’m not saying this is the fix, however, after having ford determine it’s not related to pulleys or belts I believe it may point to something like this. Seeing it was an issue on the 5.0 and the 5.2 is based upon that platform, seems like it’s a logical assumption?

Good finds, and this tracks with what my SM said about if he was a betting man that it is related to the tensioners. Unfortunately I guess this wasn’t enough to go on to open the engine. The impression I get is unless there is a TSB, or are told directly to do it by Ford’s engineers it isn’t going to happen. He’s more interested in trying to get a full engine replacement. As I mentioned in an earlier post he’s going to go listen to another truck tomorrow but based on your experience I’d guess that truck will probably chirp too. I’m not sure if the field engineer for my area is going to make an in person trip or not, but I’m super curious what the engineer has to say about yours tomorrow.
