I think some of the trepidation of the 1st gen crowd may be misinterpreted. Most of us welcome the innovation / improvements the next gen Raptor offers. However, some of us remember Ford 'fibbing' about the relationship of the production 6.2 to the 6.2 in the Raptor R - specifically none of the parts being interchangeable. Forgive us if we fall back on a 'believe it when I see it' mentality WRT advertised improvements.

Anyone paying attention to the marketing over the last several years knows that while the Eco certainly delivers in the power department (I have one), they rarely get advertised MPGs even when babied.

Lastly, suspension is suspension. You can only get so much travel out of a MT setup with 4x4. The max numbers with uniballs and heim joints is about 14" with bolt ons, a tad more with a fully fabbed setup. My guess is the new version will be in the 12" range with traditional ball joints and poly pivot points. Based on the pictures I've seen, same weak knuckles, same weak uppers and same dinky tie rods.

Some of us went 'all in' on the gen 1. The gen 2 will have to really impress me to take a 60-70k loss only to pay 60-70k for a truck with LESS capability.

He he..... You said dinky.

But I agree. If the price is right, I may try one.

Genuinely curious as to what makes you believe the Gen 2 will be less capable than the Gen 1?

Gen 2 has more power, better suspension, and possibly a better terrain management system (which has yet to be seen so I say 'possibly').

Its hard to draw a conclusion that the Gen 2 will be less capable when compared side by side with the Gen 1 on paper...

Unless youre speaking about a modified Gen 1 compared to a stock Gen 2 then I see your point.

Less capable than MY gen 1 that I have more invested in than the cost of a gen 2. Not hard for me to come to that conclusion at all.

Then yes, makes perfect sense. I honestly couldnt see myself getting rid of a Gen 1 that I had that kind of money invested into for a Gen 2.

These are the images from Superman750's link.

Once it has a new bumper installed and that ugly plastic looking skid plate removed I think its damn good looking. Yes its different than the Gen 1 but I still think it looks aggressive but in a different way...futuristic sort of way. Change is good, deep breaths everyone.

I kinda like the bumper but getting an aftermarket bumper for that truck might not make it look better. Look at the lower valence on how it raises on the corner of the grill. That may look weird with a radius bumper

OK so after seeing the '17 in person I have to say I'm not liking it as much as I hoped I would once I saw it in person. Like others have reported it's locked so you can't see inside so no comments there. This is a personal opinion so don't freak out...

Maybe it's just the color blue but from all angles the Raptor doesn't seem to have wider fenders over a stock F-150. For me I really like the "bulge" of my Raptor.

I also very much *HATE* the rear tailgate. The black SCREW we have seen pictures of doesn't have that ridiculous tailgate setup so there is hope.

It's a shame this is now a Ford F-150 Ford Performance Raptor. Just sounds stupid. The first thing I will do should I buy one is pick up a "Raptor SVT" emblem from a Gen1 to replace the Raptor on the Gen2 :)

The rear exhaust looks OK if you are a street queen and plan to never go anywhere you might possibly scrape the rear bumper.

Even worse is how it looks with the trailer hitcher/tow hooks. You have this huge hitch sticking out from the center of the rear bumper. I should have taken a picture of the entire rear bumper from down low but it doesn't look good at all.

I'm not liking the front grill yet. Or the woody the front camera is displaying. I like the headlights though and the front bumper.

The aluminum UCA is cool. It may have been talked about by others but I don't recall reading about it so that was new to me.

I realize Ford is catering to the Forza crowd but I think it's just plain stupid to put a surge protector on the LCA :)

The LCA seems a lot "shinier" than the Gen1. Don't know if this is because it's a show truck or this is how they will all look.

On a side note... anyone know if you can pre-order the '17 Raptor? A guy with this girlfriend said he put a deposit down on one. It was a odd conversation...

While talking with my brother-in-law about this Raptor and mine this guy kept asking questions about the Raptor like he didn't have the slightest clue about it. From the suspension to dovetails to power. The dude didn't seem to know about about the truck he is about to spend big $$$$ on.

Anyway... the show was great. I really like the new Mustang's and my wife fell in love with the 911 Carrera and that's a good thing! After seeing the Raptor in person I know I can easily wait until 2018 or 2019.

Most of the upgrades came straight from what the gen1 enthusiasts/aftermarket industry have come up with over the last few years so I'm sure it'll be a great truck. I don't think they'll have the individual personalities that the first gen had though, it looks like it will take more effort and money to even do small mods like bumpers..

Man, you guys are really opening yourselves up to the wrath of the Gen 2 lovers. I'm so glad I didn't have the opportunity to look at the truck myself so I couldn't express my opinions.

Good luck over the next few hours!!!
