After an hour with a mechanics stethoscope I’ve determined my noise is cam phasers, specifically exhaust LH head. The bottom end is whisper quiet. I have the Whipple and will add new and improved phasers when available, installed myself.
The truck is night vs day different.

A buddy of mine asked why I change my own oil as we drove to pickup his truck from the dealer. He was ready to leave and I suggested looking under the hood. Reluctantly he does, dipstick was missing.

I can see Ford using a third party to buy the truck back minus $15k+ fees and turning around and selling it used somewhere else. Almost zero out of pocket, might even make money for the selling dealer.

My lawyer was a lemon law specialist. The 5.4L had a known issue within Ford and he ultimately billed Ford. I didn’t pay him a dime. Ford can either pay the attorney up front, do right by the customer or risk going to court. The OEMs know when they are wrong and usually settle out...
Variable valve timing started around 1960 and Toyota’s VVT dates back to 1991. I believe Fords first experience with this was via the Ford Taurus SHO which had a 215 HP 7,000 RPM 3.0 designed by Yamaha Marine. The reclocking of the cams is handled by a “cam phaser.”
Honda’s system (no...
Jasper probably still does them. When my 5.4L died (cam chain tensioner seal blew starving the top end) they used a Jasper engine which IMO is a better built engine. They used their own US sources graphite coated pistons and oil pump with a steel backing plate. Apparently the OEM pump had an...
Very well spoken and a technically compelling argument you make there. I presume you are upper level management or a chief engineer?

I have no idea. The fact there is a backlog and the later version of the engine is in production leads me to believe this is the case.

Ford tests trucks engines on a 300 hour dyno. Other than some larger race engine builders this type of equipment is WAY out of their price range for most “tuners.” Porsche and Chevy also use...
That’s kind of my theory. When they further boosted the 3.5 and ran their usual 300 hour dynos with all the shock cooling I can guarantee you they didn’t come up with 450 on the first run. Furthermore, we don’t know if those Whipple/Ford Performance tunes weren’t leaked out of the R&D cell to...
First medium distance tow with Deaver +3HD and SVC bumps. I did NOT lower the bumps in Preparation to tow, yet they worked wonderfully.

Guys here is the reality.
Stock Raptor: 122HP/L
Tuned Raptor: 151HP/L
Stock 2019 911 Turbo: 142HP/L
A fellow instructor of mine had a Turbo 996 that saw a track weekend for over ten years, north of 20,000 track miles when he sold the vehicle with the original engine still in place. A new...
I dropped my first oil after a few thousand, waste of money. With an aviation background I cut open the oil filter and there wasn't a single metal shaving anywhere in the entire element. This was a first for me. I recently ran my oil 10,000 miles and sent a sample to Blackstone, oil was...
Expensive... solid piece of kit with all the QDs. I’m not a fan of the friction fitting (nipple pressed into an oring) for the WOT line. It comes with a 90° ball valve drain. No CEL and no hesitation the past 800 miles.

With a stock setup I’ve had the stock 35s rub the wheel well, not sure what more travel would facilitate unless you went more than a Deaver +3.

I’d ask for a letter of clarification. They want you to accept those terms. When a friend of mine bought a Z06 and it went into limp mode, every fourth lap, he sought a buyback. Yes, an attorney on his behalf got involved and they ultimately reimbursed his costs for buying the vehicle. I...
I dropped the oil just before my summer trip around the country, here are the 9,500 mile results. The lead part has me a bit worried. Sort of wondering if this whole cam phaser issue is due to low pressure due to worn bottom end clearances.
