So yesterday I’m towing a 10’ all aluminum trailer with my sxs on the trailer. Out of nowhere I hear a awful grinding noise. First thing I thought was ( did my trailer come off and am I dragging down the highway.) that’s the noise I would compare it too.I wasn’t comfortable driving more than 25 mph, so I took the back roads home. The noise only happened while I was under a load and pressing the gas peddle, nothing going down hill. Got home etc. looked under the truck and there’s splatterd grease in the drivers side frame and on the a-arms. Took it out this morning, no trailer and no noise at all. Any ideas? Also this 2018 with 6k and never been off the highway.

Is the noise when shifting, and may be related to tranny or diff oil leakage. In any case, I wouldn't drive it anywhere except to the nearest dealer.

Ok, had it towed to the Dealership. They said the left front axel was bad (that’s where the grease came from.) Also some kind of vacuum actuator that engages the 4x4 system had a leak, and was trying to put the truck in 4x4. Then they mentioned the axel might of gone bad due to the 1.5” leveling kit on the front. Is that possible? If so I’ll take the leveling kit off.

If you put max payload in the bed the front comes up 1.5” on its own, no collars.

Just got this over the weekend. Took it to my dealership and they knew what exactly was going on and the IWE vacuum leak.

4WD vacuum actuators. Mine has it. I'm in Baja right now. It won't hurt to drive it. To verify its the actuators when it starts to make the noise switch it over while you're driving into four-wheel high and the noise instantly goes away. The dealer told me go ahead and have fun in Baja, come in after and we can fix it under warranty. It won't hurt anything. I put it in 4 wheel auto auto and I don't think I have heard it since.
