He states that they are not illegal.

I had them and they are not legal. The Ford light as manufactured and tested and approved by the DOT is. When modified they are not legal period but may fool anyone looking at them because the DOT is on the front of the plastic shield on the light. The only way that they would be approved if the enclosed capsule such as the one I have on my JK are DOT approved. Hella makes it--expensive but they are DOT and HID.

This is my world (CFR) not the Part 49 but others however, if you are interested what the requirement to be DOT certified/compliant read the attached. It is not for everyone but will help you to understand the tremendous amount of NRE and certification cost associated with being DOT certified. http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CFR-2004-title49-vol5/xml/CFR-2004-title49-vol5-sec571-108.xml

hopefully this will clarify for those of you who are not familiar with this.

I had some ******** fallowing me with unadjusted hid lights they where blue and I can see why if that's what's going on. If you get flashed every time you drive at night fix it!
PS I have never gotten flashed even with my ridged fog's on so once again so you get it FIX the problem.

What marvelous illogic.

There's a point where you have to determine if it's your fault it's blinding them or if it's their fault they are getting blinded, if I'm on stock perch with properly adjusted stock 2011 halogen headlights and people flash me, it's not my fault anymore, in my opinion if your headlights are properly adjusted, it doesn't matter where they came from, it's not your fault anymore, you can't do anything more about it without undue effort being required, they wouldn't go to the trouble for you

^^^^^^^^^^^^ OP's Truck.

This thread just keeps going and going...

All vehicles must comply with DOT headlight homologation requirements to be sold in the US. Just because the retrofits use OEM equipment doesn't mean that they're legal. The LS460, Morimoto, etc. projectors may be OEM equipment in other vehicles, but they have not passed homologation requirements in a Raptor.

Was the cop being a ****? Definitely!
Are/were the headlights too bright? Maybe... maybe not!
Do 6000k vs stock 4300k, 50w vs stock 35w, painted reflectors, and LED projector rings scream "aftermarket" to LEO? Abso-friggin-lutely! Even the dumbest cop is going to know that Raptor's don't come stock with white headlight bezels and LED trim rings.
