Wiring harness re-route

I removed the second white Christmas tree fastener (from where the harness exits the engine bay), then replaced it with the one from the third position, but relocated it rearward by 1-3/4", then used a spring steel harness clip to attach it to the off-frame body mount bracket.

Where did you get that clip holding the harness to the body mount?

I will see if I can find the Ford part number for you. I forgot to take a close-up shot of that before I installed it.

Edit: oops- not a Ford part but here's the information from my (almost empty) box. If there's enough interest, I might buy another box of 100 pcs. so people can buy them individually. I don't even recall what I paid for this box several years ago...

Small "tap-on clamp" like I used:


Larger "flange clamp (beam clamp)" which, if I could have found one when I needed it, would have fit better since the body mount bracket is of a fairly thick gauge:

The beauty of using one of these is that you don't need to use eleventy-seven zip-ties to keep the harness from working its way up into the space between the underbody and the body mount bracket, where bad things might happen as the truck articulates over bumps or if you land a jump a too hard and fully compress the rubber body mount. Beyond function, they allow for a really clean, better-than-stock appearance if you take your time, relocating the harness clips as described above and re-wrapping the conduit carefully.

Because the teeth on the clamp are designed to bite through the paint for positive retention, you do need to be sure to apply a rust preventative of your preference after installation.
