drivers side wire harness
i want to make a serious point here. @
manny had us install some bed lights in his truck a while back. he recently went on an offroad run with some other members. unfortunately he was unlucky enough to get a flat tire during the night portion of the run. he went to open the bed and his bedlights did not turn on. luckily there were extra flashlights around to help him get his tire and tools out of the bed of his truck. but the reason for this post is because after his truck came back to my shop, it took us a while to find the problem as to why the bedlights wouldnt come on. he had crushed his wire harness on the drivers side. the spot where it hangs below the frame. since we ran the wires with the oem harness, it was also in harms way. he was lucky though, imagine being in the middle of the night, middle of nowhere, truck wont start, and no place to get help for miles. the bedlight wires took the hit and luckily not the main harness. even if one wire is broken there, your truck will die and not start. i witnessed this in texas last year at trr as well @
treypal came and asked me if i could help with a truck not starting. it turned out that that person was on the track the night before and his truck stalled. he had to get a tow off the course and a ride back to camp. the next day i went up there and spent an hour and a half trying to find the problem. he had crushed his harness on a rocky section of the track. 4 wires were broken and his truck just died. luckily i was able to find the problem and get the truck fixed. this is more of a reminder that if you are going to offroad the truck, please relocate the wire harness it takes just a couple minutes and will avoid an unwanted disaster. i took a couple pics of my harness. its nothing fancy. it just needs to work. you can relocate any way you want, but i found a simple couple strong zip ties and its out of the way. dont mind the mud under there.
