Seems to me this is where it started:
Waveslayer, the PM function has a character limit, I had to send it to you as a 'conversation', you should be able to find it there. I do have the guts.
Now, let's dissect the brilliant responses of CGATX, shall we?
Obama flaunted his ******** on AF1: From Snopes.com: "
While Grabien News’ interpretation of this video was amusing, they provided no actual proof for anything they claimed. The video is too grainy to tell if it actually captured Barack Obama sporting an ********, and there’s no evidence in the video that the female reporter was “uncomfortable,” that Obama lifted his leg as a “chauvinistic” display, or that people were told to sit down so they could “get a better look.”
Grabien News saw what they wanted to see in the video — an ******** — and then
invented the emotions and subsequent actions of passengers on the plane in order to fit their narrative." (I placed the bolding in the text). Were you there? Did you see what happened, what was said, and what the reaction was? Neither was I, so we have to take the MOST RELIABLE source we can find, and to me Snopes is right up there with the best. IF YOU CAN FIND EVIDENCE FROM AN EQUALLY/SUPERIOR RELIABLE SOURCE AND PROVIDE IT I'LL CONSIDER IT. If not, perhaps you should be the one to shut up.
"O' secretly sent 100's of millions of $$ to Iran." Wrong, and the gullibility of you and others who believe that is saddening. You're drinking too much of the Trump Kool-Aid.
"The nuclear deal gave Iran "$150 billion, giving $1.8 billion in cash — in actual cash carried out in barrels and in boxes from airplanes."
"The past administration made a horrible deal giving $150 billion," Trump said
April 26 on the Fox News morning show. "Giving $1.8 billion in cash — in actual cash carried out in barrels and in boxes from airplanes."
Of the two numbers he gave, $150 billion and $1.8 billion, the first is dodgy and the second is slightly exaggerated. And there’s no evidence that barrels and boxes were involved.
The 2015 agreement freed up Iranian assets that had been frozen under sanctions. Called the
Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the deal included Iran and the United States, China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom and the European Union. The agreement only affected sanctions imposed to punish Iran for its nuclear program. Iran has other assets that remain frozen.
It’s important to know that little of that money was under the control of the United States or any U.S. bank. Most of it was in central and commercial banks overseas. Furthermore,
it was Iran’s money to begin with, not a payment from any government to buy Iran’s cooperation.
There's more:
The Congressional Research Service, the nonpartisan analytic arm of Congress, reviewed this cash transfer in a
2018 report (Hmmm who was President in 2018?). It gave a total of $1.7 billion. That was the amount that U.S. and Iranian negotiators settled on to resolve an arms contract between the United States and Iran t
hat predated the Iranian revolution in 1979. Iran (under the Shah) had paid for military equipment, and it was never delivered. As of 1990, there were $400 million in that account. Negotiators agreed that accrued interest would add $1.3 billion to the amount, which is a lot of money — but 25 years is a long time for interest to build up the balance. The United States sent the money to Iran in euros, Swiss francs and other currencies.
There was nothing 'secret' about these, it was money Iran was, unfortunately, legally entitled to. It was THEIR money, not ours/yours/mine.
"my health insurance doubled overnight" I don't doubt this, and it is an adverse impact on you, and it sucks to have to write that check every month/quarter. But search for the root cause of it. Fewer people being insured because the individual mandate was repealed, makes the entire pool of those who ARE still insured more risky for the carrier. They have to cover their costs for the services they pay for, out of a smaller income stream. So they have to charge more to those they DO insure to maintain adequate funds to pay out what they must. Who repealed the individual mandate? That's where you should point your anger. And at the Republican-led congress who hasn't taken what works well in the ACA and kept it, and improved on the parts that don't work well. With Republicans leading both the Executive and Legislative branches, that should be an easy fix. Why hasn't it happened, and why aren't you directing your anger there?
" (I) get (my) news from facebook" Nope, rarely on FB, I get my news from a variety of BOTH 'conservative' sources (though not Fox) and 'mainstream' liberal media, because I want to see the many sides of all issues before I form an opinion. Hence why I say the ACA wasn't perfect, but was a step in the right direction, until the republican congresses began to gut the most important provisions of it. FURTHER, if the ACA is so bad, and Trump and congress have had two years in power, WHERE'S THEIR BETTER REPLACEMENT FOR IT? It's easy to sit back and criticize what's already in place. Harder to actually replace it with something better. Why aren't you pointing so much anger at them for not putting their better plan in place, rather than still blaming Pres. Obama who's been out of office over 2 years now?? Oh, is it that they don't really have a better plan after all...wasn't it you who said in your reply 'put up or shut up'? Maybe you ought to hold them to that same standard.
"Everyone here has persevered in spite of the shit Obama laid on us." Well, Trump has had 2 years to undo that shit...but the ACA (whats left, anyway) is still law, illegals are still crossing the border, the wall isn't built, America isn't any more unified than it was before (some would even say it's less so), right-wing groups promoting racism/nationalism are marching in our cities, and the economy is continuing to grow,
as it did under the last 6 years of Obama. Is that the shit he laid on us that you'd like Trump to undo? Oh, and the Mariners have the best record in Baseball...can it get any more cataclysmic than that?
Yeah, I love my Raptor. Love driving it, love every aspect of it, and am more than willing to pay to keep it fed, and my 'real' friends are envious that I get to have one!
I do note though...in your entire brilliant reply, you do not refute a single fact I laid out about the successes of Obama. Hard to refute real facts, isn't it? But, I know..why let real facts get in the way of your carefully considered opinion. You didn't refute that he got OBL and MG killed. That we recovered from the recession during his terms. Didn't refute that he signed legislation protecting consumers from bankers. Didn't refute that his terms saw us benefit from historically low interest rates. And I already conceded the ACA isn't perfect. Otherwise, you didn't refute one single point I made. Dang them facts sure are inconvenient, aren't they?
