Mmmmkay. If Trump/the MAGA movement is so great, where's the new health plan that was supposed to replace the ACA?? To quote Pres Tump:
"We’re going to have insurance for everybody,” Trump
said in an interview with The Washington Post. “There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us."
President Trump and his advisers have been talking about an Obamacare repeal and replacement plan, and making blanket statements about what it would entail, for years. If we're so much greater now than under Pres. Obama...where's the plan ?? (and don't you DARE blame Sen. McCain for that...if the plan was so great, it should have had so much congressional support that ONE MAN couldn't possibly hope to derail it). McCain realized the truth of what the Republican plan would do...and he couldn't screw America over like that.
How about the border wall, that Mexico was going to pay for, and was going to be built so fast "It will make your head spin"? On Aug. 23, 2016
CNN Newsroom ran a video clip of Trump saying, “We’re going to build a wall, folks. We’re going to build a wall. We’re going to build it. Don’t worry. We’re going to build a wall. That wall will go up so fast your head will spin.” Also, on the Trump-Pence website, under “Immigration,” there is a “
10 Point Plan to Put America First.” The No. 1 item on the list says, “Begin working on an impenetrable physical wall on the southern border, on day one. Mexico will pay for the wall.”
Well, last I heard he was now TAKING 5+ billion dollars from the Pentagon (remember, that's the US armed forced fighting for us and our allies he's now taking money from) to pay for it. And we're 2+ years into his presidency. No
permanent wall being built, just some prototypes. Is your head spinning yet?
And as far as the stock market buying your Raptor. I've benefitted from the market rise as well. My 401K/403B accounts are growing higher and higher week by week. My retirement has advanced by 2-3 years. But this is a CONTINUATION of the rise that started in year 2 of Obama's presidency, NOT something that wasn't happening before, and Trump gets the only and full credit for. Need proof? Go see:
https://www.statista.com/statistics/261690/monthly-performance-of-djia-index/.
In 2008 (Year 2 Obama, the worst year), the Dow Jones was -34%. 2009 + 19%. 2010 + 11% 2011 + 5.5% 2012 + 7.2% 2013 + 26.5% 2014 + 7.5% 2015 - 2.25% 2016 (last full year of Obama) +13.4% (I rounded some numbers to nearest 0.1%)
Under Trump: 2017 +25% 2018 -5.6%, 2019 +13%. So call it roughly 33% over 2 1/3 years. Well, Obama did that in 2012 to 2014, so it's not unheard of in recent history (and yes, I realize that this number reflects the FULL year 2014, so Trump may still beat it over the three full years 2017-2019. Or not...wish I had that crystal ball to tell).
Illegal crossings of the southern border dropped every year (on average) under Obama as well: Undetected illegal border crossings dropped from 851,000 in 2006 to approximately 62,000 in 2016, according to
estimates by the Department of Homeland Security.
Under Trump, they did drop initially, but are now setting NEW records:
March 5, 2019, 11:37 AM PST
By Julia Ainsley (NBC News) WASHINGTON — "The number of undocumented immigrants crossing the southern border last month (Feb, 2019) was the highest total for February in 12 years, according to statistics released by Customs and Border Protection.
In 28 days, and in the same month President Donald Trump declared a national emergency in order to build a border wall, 76,103 immigrants without the needed documentation to enter the U.S. either presented themselves at legal ports of entry or
were apprehended by Border Patrol between ports of entry."
SO yeah...we're being made great again. NOT.
Given ALL of that...what has Trump specifically and clearly done that has made us greater than we were before? Racial harmony...hardly. Peace, fewer troops dying...nope. Improved our international standing...nuh-uh. Increasing 'welfare' to farmers due to tariffs..check. Gov't shutdowns that left contractors (not direct gov't employees) without pay for weeks...check. Getting more conservative justices appointed to the Supreme Court...check (gotta give him credit where it's due).
Full disclosure: Bought my Raptor 2/2018. But I don't credit that to Trump at all. That's my smart planning, willingness to make small sacrifices that add up over time and allowed me to pay off a 30yr mortgage in 15 years while fully funding my 401K including the over-50 catch-up contribution.
