OP, just as a heads up, being that you were getting un-metered air in through the leak under blower/intake, you may want to pull your plugs and check them to make sure you didn't lean one of them out. A quick peek could save you a lot of headaches later.

Sorry for neglecting this thread and thank you everyone for the responses. I got a new RV and spent the summer running around with my Wife and Daughter. The truck has been sitting all summer!

Well back to topic. The boost seems ok now but I still have a tune issue. It still surges pretty badly and Nav screen ext temp is still stuck at 60. I am not alone with this issue though. There is a member here with the same exact problem and also a person on the whipple forum with the same issue Uodfa - Whipple Supercharger Forum. Last time I called Whipple I got nowhere and was told to call Ford Racing. Ford said they knew nothing about tuning for Whipple or the guy I talked to just didn't. So I will be back at it again on Monday trying to get this sorted out.:emotions122:

I am going with a PCM issue of some sort....like Ford didn't input the correct options (think adding front camera). Maybe that is enough to screw with stuff?? I will keep you all posted.

Thanks!

Couple of things to mention.

The Ford Racing Tune is not the correct name it is the Whipple Tune, I have always thought that is was Ford Racing Tune.
Well I have been corrected by Whipple that it's "The Whipple Tune".

And if you call Ford Racing you are really calling Ford Racing Parts! and they are nasty when you ask them about a Tune for the Complete Whipple Kit. And if you ask to talk to a SVT team member they tell they do not anwser phone calls, I don't know what give with that?

I would call Whipple again on Monday!!!

I didn't see on your orginal post that you had it installed by an authorized Whipple installer, are they?
If not you may have problems getting support from Whipple. They may charge you to reflash your PCM. And it now gets ship directly to Whipple not Ford Racing anymore.

You most certianly have an air leak somewhere, what are your Fuel Trims Long and short both banks?
Are your O2s on or off (closed or open loop)

You should have no surging of any kind when install correctly and using the Whipple Tune!

I wish I could tell you about why your Nav is stuck on the temp thing. The PCM only does Engine and Transmission control, there is a body control module "BCM" in the passenger side kick panel. but where this temp comes from I don't know.

I would also suggest to disconnect the battery for 5 to 10 minutes and allow the PCM to relearn without using your cut out and drive it easy for 50 miles and see what happens.

Installer is Whipple approved.

Mike at Whipple sent me all new O-Ring seals that were installed with no change in the surging.

I will get the fuel trims and o2 stuff when I get back to the truck.

There are a few other people that have this exact problem even down to the stuck at 60 thing. That is why im going with a communications problem. Im sure there are more than 3 people with this problem that is why I am posting about it. Who knows how many people don't get on the forums to ask questions/opinions.

I am sure Whipple will take care of it whatever it is though, they so far have been pretty cool about this.

If I have to pay up front to get a new tune from Whipple so be it. If the problem goes away I will be getting my money back though....if not I will begin the:banghead:!

I wonder if it could be an internal air leak? I have read that it does happen.

I do enjoy the power of the truck now but when it almost dies backing my trailer up it really isnt worth it.

Edit: OBD scanner reads the ext temp correctly and everything was perfect before the Whipple tune. The truck has 1300 miles on it!

OK cool, call Whipple and let them reflash your PCM again they have made some updates. But that temp thing, your guess is as good as mine.

Just got off the phone with Jeff at Whipple, nice guy. Well my issues are pretty well known now and the updated tune has fixed the idle hunting and surging issues. He is able to punch in the last few digits of your vin and tell you if you need the new update or not. If you have the older tune I would really recommend sending your PCM in for a reflash because it sounds like the newer tune is much improved.

Now to the ext temp thing. Ford is on it but it is not a priority unfortunately. The Whipple tune is based on the GT500 which is not exactly the same as the Raptor setup so there are certain things that needed new code written. The GT500 gets its ext. temperature in a different way then the Raptor does so the data stream from the PCM to the BCM is either not there or is "speaking a different language" that the BCM basically ignores. Ford has to write new code to make it work and that is going to take some time.

I will be sending my PCM in to Whipple within the week and will post back the results! Im crossing my fingers!

Justin
