I had my Whipple installed last week and have the same problem with the ext temp stuck on 60 degrees. Supposed to take it back to dealer tomorrow but after reading this it doesn't sound like they can fix it. Help Whipple!

What year is your truck? Mrjeep94

I just want to get it right as to what year this is affecting. And if it's more than 2012 model.

I would like to know as well and if its just with Nav screens. Seems to be an easy fix if its just 2012's doing it. At least they are working on it...right?:banghead:

My raptor is a 2012 with navigation. Only purchased it a month or so ago. It is my company ride so I put miles on quickly. Just ticked over 5000 miles, Only have driven it for a few days since install. I have noticed the idle surge a few times but not sure if is an issue or not.

Truck runs incredible. Love the power and sound. Afraid it's going to cost me a fortune in rear tires......

It's still learning, try as hard as you can to drive as nice as possible for a little while and it should stop doing that.

And maybe you might want to call Whipple to see if you have the latest Tune.

What all is it learning and which symptoms will it clear? The surging or the 60 degree issue?

The Temp thing is what Beerhasvitamins said Whipple told him.

Our PCM is a learning and adapting mini computer, it always trys to predict the next move (if you will) as to thottle response and shifting.
If you drive hard off-roading for the weekend and then drive to work on Monday you will notice the change on how the truck reacts.
It can take up to 50 miles to readjust to how you driving at the moment.

Is it idle hunting a little or is it really surging? What exactly is it doing?

And you should notify Whipple of any concerns you may have just to get it straight from the horses mouth :)

Got the computer back from Whipple and installed it today. Ambient air issue is resolved!

I ran across town to SDHQ today to burn off the 6 month old gas in the truck so I don't blow the engine up...what an awesome shop! The gas didn't smell bad but better safe than sorry. I was hoping that the idle issue would be fixed after 200 miles of mixed driving but so far it is still surging.

I am going to fill the tank with some good gas and install my new boost gauge to begin troubleshooting. Will have boost levels and fuel trims pretty quick I hope.

Have you run the fuel trims on your truck? I have a lean bank on mine and I am going to replace the intake gaskets. Mine surges slightly and I want to rule out a vacuum leak first. There have been several cases of the manifolds leaking.
Just a thought.

What throttle body are you running on there? I know there were some issues on GT500's with the monoblade acting like that too. I actually have the mono blade on my GT500 with a 2.8 KB and it's dialed in really nice by John Lund.

The tune was a major part of the fix and the other thing was the gears. We had to put on the Ford factory gears for the TB so there was plastic not just metal and it was able to open and close smoothly again. I don't know enough to say if this could be part of the trouble but I know it was an issue that had the same type of symptoms with the GT500's

Good luck!
