Bought WLED-WHP5 Cool White from superbrightleds.com. Let's see how that works out.
Edit: good news is that a led bulb works great. Bad news is that it works too great. How does one buy a led bulb that's not too bright?

Why not try a different 194 bulb that isn't as bright? Search Results For "194" | Miniature Wedge Base LEDs | LED Car Bulbs | Super Bright LEDs | Super Bright LEDs
Under each link here it shows the "Relative Intensity" so I'd recommend picking one that is a 1-2 out of 5 for brightness/intensity.
