What do you guys expect? The dealers have no info and can't order them but they have guys calling to be the first ones to get the truck...of course they are going to say over MSRP!! You are playing your hand. Be still young grasshoppers. Wait until the order banks open and then go talk to someone other than a random salesperson. I typically go to the Fleet Dept or Internet Sales. They usually have bonus structure setup based off how many vehicles they move and not so focused on gross profit.

If the Gen2 follows a similar pattern to the Gen1, then around here in Phoenix all the Ford dealers were able to put a Raptor on their lot for over MSRP and sell it. When you asked to order, they didn't have any interest in a deal, knowing they could just put it on the lot and get what they wanted for it. I ended up heading about 50 miles outside of town to Tom Jones in Buckeye and they were happy to let me order one for $500 over invoice. A few months later I was still waiting but in need of a truck so they gave me a similar Raptor off the lot for the same deal.

No matter what happens, invoice to over MSRP prices can vary as much as $10k. if you can find a deal, you're better off with a national search and traveling if they can't deliver. Don't put up with that crap.

On another note, I often spend my summers on Maine so I looked around there too. NO ONE has Raptors in Maine. A few dealers up there were more than happy to let me order one for a deal. So again, try going to an area that won't see a lot and they'll be happy for the business.

Thanks for the heads up, I messaged them this morning concerning putting an order in on the 18th. We'll see what goes down. :)

I've got a local Ford dealership who claims to be taking names for a wait list (though he admits there are currently only 4 others on it). He said the way it's going to work is that when they announce the ability to actually take orders they're going to contact people on the wait list in order and those that are willing to pay a certain amount over MSRP will be offered the ability to place a pre-order.

Does this sound right to any of you? Seems like they're doing something dirty here in forcing those who are enthusiastic about the release to pay a much higher price so they can gouge you.

I live in a major city, so finding another Ford dealer is easy - they're a dime a dozen here.

I had similar issue the last year the SVT was out, every dealer in Tucson wanted 10k over MSRP and would not order one for you for anything less then that.. Absolutelt BS!!!!!!!!!!
The dealers are all in cahoots with each other!

1100 over invoice is pretty impressive for a single email exchange. Care to share what dealer that was?

They received my email and called me, went over the process, necessary deposit. I still feel as if they weren't aware that every dealer around them was charging on average 5k above msrp.. but they sounded knowledgeable. I gave them my info and they will be processing my deposit tomorrow. I'm hesitant to share the dealer because I feel like I stumbled on a pot of gold and someone is going to steal it from me haha. It's in the Mid-Atlantic area though.

Wouldn't it seem logical for a dealership to just offer low or the lowest pricing (as long as they are still making money) and then tell their customers to spread the word. Using easy numbers, 10 sales w/ $100 profit is better than 2 sales w/ $300 profit.

Anything can be done more easily in great numbers. I think all forum members should ban against paying high dollar MSRP or above and share with each other and only purchase from the dealers willing to work with us. Simple supply and demand. Am I crazy for thinking this would work?

What is someone going to steal? You are putting a deposit down and signing paperwork right? So how is others purchasing going to hurt your deal?
