I'll drive to Texas for a legit off-road turbo kit. Haha. No estimates on price yet? Wondering if I should hold off on a supercharger... :\

Price will depend on how awesome we want to make the kit. What I mean is, should we offer options or include as standard? Options are great, but that means safety or performance is lacking. Depending on boost, the stock tranny may suffer, so considering a transmission package as standard also. Things like that.

Also we are looking for a name for the package and an emblem. Something that is twin turbo, raptor, etc... focused. Submit name ideas and graphics for emblem here or to [email protected]

Disappointed to hear that it will be a TMX install only. Hopefully you will come up with a workaround for the tune for those of us who are interested but not local.

Great to hear about the issues, what lead to them and how you are fixing them. Great info!

For this kind of thing, it's not that uncommon. I had my car shipped to Buschur Racing in Ohio to have the motor built/installed/tuned despite the fact that there's two well known and reputable shops local that are authorized dealers of his.

Is it worth putting a filter of some kind on the BOV to stop dirt from getting on the piston? Since it's VTA and not back into the intake.

I wonder if you can gain airflow out the hood vents with some kind of modification to try and pull more heat out. Though, I'm sure a blanket and wrap and/or coating will make a significant difference.

It's not a kit then? I missed that part.

Let me clarify this on a couple fronts. First and foremost TMX has played a big roll in this kit, it's design, and it's production. They have a lot invested into it as do we (especially patience!). So it's only right that they get ROI for what they've got into it. Because of this TMX will have exclusivity on this kit, at least for some time, including baring us from the market.

Secondly, the tuning on these trucks is no joke. This isn't a Corvette that you can plug HPTuners into (yet) and just go to town, or is it a Mustang that you can just flash over some "cookie cutter" one-size-fits-all file. Originally we transplanted the original TT Raptor tune to Danny's truck, and it wasn't even close. To make matters worse this isn't a platform that can be easily tuned (thanks Ford!). Something to the tune of 19 different throttle/tq maps. I tune.....A LOT....and I can't tune these (yet). Our local Ford guru tuner who did the original tune and understands the software didn't preform what I would consider an "acceptable" tune. There was part throttle surging issues. So if we can't give out a cookie cutter tune, and not many people are going to truly be capable of tuning these, what would you do for a tune? Releasing the kit like this and expecting customers to "find your own tuner", would inevitably end up with the same result; an unhappy customer. A customer with our product, that no matter who's to fault, would be unhappy and wish in hind-site they went a different direction. This is not and acceptable standard.

At this time there is one tuner local to TMX that I would say produced an acceptable tune, and eliminated all of the surging issues. TMX I know is also working with another well known tuner for a mail order tune option. In either case once a few of these Raptors have been done through TMX we'll have a better understanding if we can offer a base "cookie-cutter" tune with this kit (via the local shop), or have the ability to offer a tune through remote tuning with the other well known tuner. At that point this may be a kit that's releasable for sales/install outside of TMX (ie you can order the kit through TMX and have it shipped to your house.)

But for the time being offering this kit solely though TMX gives us the ability to fully control the end product, and therefore the ultimate fate of the happy customer lays solely in our hands. Releasing it otherwise would just prove unsuccessful. Sure we could sell more kits, but when Joe-Bob can't install it properly, or when Tuner-Dave can't tune it properly....who is the ultimate blame going to land upon? Us. Rather than traveling that road, we just assume make less sales and do things correctly until such a time as we have a viable option to ensure happy customers.

The "CARNIVORE" package!
I love these.....I'm going to steel one of them! Just don't sue me for royalties! ;)

Because the BOV will only be under positive pressure when opened, I don't think it's going to be a problem of any sort. If however it does ever show potential for an issue, we can swap out with other BOV's that would be more accepting of a filter.

I'm just thinking mud/road spray/sand because of where it is. I've known a couple people locally that ended up with leaky BOVs because of the sand/salt off of the roads here in MN on setups where the BOV was exposed at the front of the car.

Because the BOV will only be under positive pressure when opened, I don't think it's going to be a problem of any sort. If however it does ever show potential for an issue, we can swap out with other BOV's that would be more accepting of a filter.

Stuff still finds a way to beat up the piston/o-ring. Even just a shield towards the front would probably enough, to stop stuff from coming through the grille and getting to the BOV.
