So here is some more concrete data for you. The 3.5 ecoboost has had cam phaser problems rooted back to 2010/11. Ford has tried a bunch of fixes... Part changes, tune changes, etc. Nothing has fixed it since Ford is still updating parts, and we are all still experiencing the problems. This cam phaser thing is no fun if you have no warranty. It's like $4k to fix and it will fail again. It's a losing proposition. People here fail to come to grips with this mega problem. I just hope my truck makes it to the 5.2sc release.

I have a bit over 30k miles on my 2018 with the MPT 93PRX tune. Still runs 13.5 @ 100mph in 1/4 mile and average fuel mileage never reset from new is 16.0. I think the key to longevity is 1) NEVER let the dealer touch it after you drive away at purchase, 2) do NOT run to 10k mile service intervals 3) stick with 5k mile oil changes using a synthetic oil, 4) always run 93 octane fuels, and if in a ******/socialist state with only 91 **** gas, move the f*ck out! Of course, YMMV

100% agree

get a reputable tune and maintenance is key

Same reliable mechanic or diy the maintenance as much as possible

Then leave it alone. it has plenty of power as a DD and the reliabillity will only go down from stock.
Your comments are all 100% valid and correct although I question whether a well done tune does much to hurt reliability. That said, I had an MPT tune on my 2017 Raptor and just installed the 93-PRX with no transmission tuning on my 2019 and OMG!!!!!! I forgot how much of a difference the tune makes. Everything is just as smooth as stock, but the power increase is extremely noticeable. I am not one to race my truck, but the acceleration is now effortless and the gear changes actually occur at lower RMPs because you are not hitting the gas pedal as hard. I have 100% no affiliation with MPT, but their customer service and tunes are top notch. I put 40K miles on a 2017 running an MPT tune with zero issues, and I am so excited to be running one on my 2019.

I hear you. i had a tune on my 2013 SHO (3.5 ecoboost) and it was rock solid.

To be honest, I am not worried about the motor or turbos at all. To me the weak link is the transmission. Even stock, this thing feels one hard shift away from grenading.
