As an two week owner of a brand new 2019, these threads really freak me the hell out. :(

Im on my second Raptor. The ‘17 I had I beat the hell out of. It was my daily in Kodiak AK and I drove it across the country. I never once had an issue for the two years and 30k I drove it. My current ‘19 I’ve had for 7 months with the same luck.

oh how quickly everyone forgets the "frame bending" scenario with the gen1s.

I've had my 18 to the dealer once for a non-owner-induced failure. It was in the shop for 2.5-3 weeks while they worked through the issue and ultimately had to replace all of my injectors and fuel rails.

Since then, anything that has broken, I've caused.

I still sometimes wish that I would have bought a used gen1 as the start of my build, but I didn't and now this truck has immense sentimental value and won't we going anywhere.

FCA is a terrible company. I purchased a 2020 Rubicon Unlimited MSRP $54,550. I couldn’t believe what a POS. I’ve owned Jeeps all my life. I put 100 miles on it and took it back to the dealer. The JL WrangleS have a serious steering issue, and the dealers know it, and so does FCA. I Slowly drove it back to Wallace Jeep, Ram in Stuart, and they were absolutely no help. They wouldn’t cancel the deal, instead they said bring it in 3 times and then you can file a complaint under the Lemmon Law. I told them that was not acceptable and their manager responded “ what do you want us to do we don’t manufacture them” I left before I did something stupid, and drove to Douglas Ford in Tampa and traded the Rubicon on a 2020 Raptor. There is no comparison between the Rebel and the Raptor. Rebels do not hold their value like the Raptor, and they’re not well built. You would be better off trading for a new Raptor. Good Luck

Congrats. That Ram will provide you years of non-issues. All the GEN2 issues has made me content with my GEN1. I had a 2008 Ram MegaCab and had absolutely zero issues with it.

I had a 1965 Plymouth Fury and a 1972 Plymouth Fury, they were both great, super reliable cars. So I guess with your logic the Rams have to be awesome? What does that have to do with current Rams that are a completely new truck with HORRIBLE WELL DOCUMENTED QC issues, if you read even a tiny bit, or talk to techs at the dealerships?????? The new Chevy's have as much in common with a 5th gen Ram as your 2008 does.

This is now the same great company that builds Alfa's and Fiat's, both very well known for their solid long term reliability. :insane:

I did research...

Fiat owns a bunch of random crap vehicles.. How did Ferrari get caught up in this?

I had a ‘12 GEN1 and got 200k with no real issues (sold it outright for $24k). I do a lot of off-road driving and I am just not happy with my GEN2, built 12/08/17. I feel its a cream puff compared to the GEN1. The bent axle on the GEN2 was my fault but I beat on the GEN1 much harder and it would suck it up and ask for more.

I’ve had the IWE that the dealer could not replicate so I swapped out the $5 check valve myself. There’s a vibration in the drivers side dash at highway speeds since 5k that no one knows what is the cause. The transmission has been flashed twice but it’s back with the 5-6 hard shift and now has a low pitched whirl when off the throttle in 7th. Cam phasers are rattling when it sits for a couple of days and needs the TSB. Exhaust has a bad rattle in park, glovebox opener broke, moonroof leaked, alloy rim broke when I put it in the ditch at 10 mph (bent the rear passenger axle)during Elk season, the rear sits 1.5 inches lower on one side and is squeaking like a buckboard wagon. I also have a metal oil pan sitting in the garage waiting for the plastic one to crap out.

I hope the GEN3 goes back to it’s Baja roots and I will buy one if that’s the case. I am seriously considering trading for a Tremor with a 7.3 this summer and just waiting to see what happens to the next Raptor in a couple of years. I always have my wife’s chick car, Toyota 4Runner with Icon Stage 3 and 33” Trail Grapplers.

I know my issues are not that major in the big picture but I used to tell everyone I bought the GEN1 because I knew it could handle more than I could ever throw at it. The GEN2 is just too delicate, I think Tincup Pass (moderate difficulty) was probably my last real off road drive as I have lost confidence in it.

wow... I had to look up this "Tremor" and to my lovely suprise it is not a ground earth tunneling beast from the 90s.

Lol, nice looking new Ford.

On my 4th Ram now with my '19 Power Wagon. I've had some bad luck with Ford, not so much with my old Challenger, Durango or my Ram trucks.

My old GT350's motor shit the bed, they gave me another one after doing some arm twisting. Had small problems with my old '17 Raptor. If it had a nice V8 in it I probably would have kept it. The Power Wagon cannot be denied w/ lockers F/R, detachable sway bars, 4.10's, proven 6.4 V8 etc. Interior is great including that 12" Nav screen.

That really bites. My findings are almost the exact opposite. My 14 Gen 1, while it did well was not on the same plane as my 18. I guess I just got a good one.

Well it breaks my heart to say it but I am trading the raptor in for a Ram Rebel. The raptor was my dream truck and when I finally got one 2 years ago I was so excited but over the past 40k miles I have had constant transmission issues that has required taking it to the dealer for work time after time. Every time I take it they say they have it fixed but it never truly gets fixed. I know all trucks are gonna have faults but the thought of having to come out of pocket for a transmission once the warranty is up isn’t worth it.

I don’t ever go off-road, I just like the look and stance of an off-road truck. I also like the idea of being able to tow more with the Rebel. Hopefully I won’t have constant mechanical issues like I did with the raptor.
You might want to consider the Lemon Law. If you’ve had it in the shop more than 3 times for or 30 days (not consecutively) for the same issue, it’s a Candidate for a buyback.
