At least its not a 5 cylinder! Ford should buy there V8 motors from GM and put there own label on them, no one would know?

Quick update, my buddies '11 Ecoboost (I had metioned earlier in this thread) had a piston come apart yesterday. There he sat at the Von Braun center in a puddle of oil and smoke. Sad thing was it only had 50k miles on it. He is still waiting to see if his warranty will cover it has it had mods, but they are 90% sure Ford will because this is the second Ecoboost this Ford dealer has seen this month in the same cylinder and the other truck had no mods. The service writer even had a piece of piston that came apart on his desk. I tried really hard not to pick on him this morning, but I couldn't help it. I almost smacked him on the forehead and said "You could of had a V8!" I hope the Karma bus doesn't come my why, as I do feel bad for him.

Sounds like that piston is leaning out. Must be how they are saving fuel. I feel bad for your buddy. NO. Truck engine should throw up parts at 50k miles in any price range.

I'm kind of a maintenance nut, so what's the required maintenance on the twin EB tubos? Back in the day a turbo was a maintenance hog and failure prone if it wasn't maintained.

Ford makes the most advanced motors in the business, their just proving it that's all. There should be a high performance V8 Raptor as well just like the Mustang.

Sorry justvettn,s statement about GM motors got my blue blood going. Ford is going all out with new performance models this we know, and through an inside source I was told that their is a group of 5.0 liter turbo Raptors in testing. Raptor R perhaps, that's what I'm looking for. Source was right about the new Ford GT so lets hope this pans out as well. I was told about the flat plane crank motor for the Shelby being developed on the dyno a year before it was announced so my resolve is good. Now its up to the fellas at Ford to give us a second performance motor option to choose from. like a F150 or Mustang.

Second motor option is great, as well would be a blown/turbo V8 backed by a factory warranty - but anything over $70-$80k for that is gonna be overkill for most buyers.

I might just opt for a pristine 2014 if that's the case. An addition of 39hp is nice - but so is a $35l-$45k price tag.

Good thing I'm not gonna be in the market until my return to the USA in mid 2017.
