Also, as someone else stated--the truck was designed with the smaller motor in mind. It is set back from the front bumper for weight distribution. You start putting in a heavier and physically bigger V8 and it becomes a different truck.



Face it, Ford is going with this engine and no other. They're doing it for emission and CAFE standards.

Lol totally unfounded. Two things, the eb with all its extras doesn't actually weigh a whole lot less than the 6.2, if at all. And with all the shit that a lot of us hang off of these trucks, the difference doesn't really matter much. The will only tell about the v8, there is a lot of demand and ford knows it.

Am I the only one who is sick of hearing about the weight difference? You can easily have 500lbs of accessories and passengers so depending on how you run your truck the difference is negligible.

I wish ford would let us know more, I for one am going to be furious if i buy one of the first 17's with a v6. To just have a v8 become a option very soon after.
For 1 it will probably devalue the v6 raptor incredibly.
I purchased a 08 gt500 when ford was saying only going to be a short run yada yada to it become a 675hp 5.8 aluminum block less than 5 years later.
Dont get me wrong. i'll be happy with a v6 as long as thats the only option. but hate being swindled and ford just to change theyre mind shortly after

Confirmed - the GEN2 will weigh 350 lbs less than the GEN1. Not the 500 lbs originally advertised. Facts are coming in slowly. Not all bad news I guess......

Based on the speculated numbers (and the official "more than last version") it will be plenty of power. In fact, it is probably more power than most people here have ever been around or had before haha.

Ford isn't stupid. They obviously cruise these forums looking for members needing help with their trucks. The poll showing that almost 90% of the customer base on this forum would choose the V8 over the V6 makes it pretty obvious what everyone wants. Anyone using the Cafe standards as a reason for justifying the V6 only is misguided. Cafe standards give you a MPG standard across the ENTIRE fleet the brand sells. If you sell more small cars like the Focus, Fusion, Hybrids and little crossover SUV's that is more or less just more trucks that you can then sell that can have a V8 that doesn't get the MPG. The Ecoboost is the next big thing that Ford has been slowly building the brand around for the last few years. I'm sure everyone will get their new trucks and love them and I'm sure the power will be incredible but don't think for a second that Ford is just going alienate a huge portion of the Raptor crowd that will NOT buy the truck with a V6. At the end of the day sales are sales. If a V8 is what it will take to continue the huge trend of sales after the initial hype dies down where interested customers want a V8 then that is exactly what will happen but I'm sure it will be at least 18' before that happens.
