One thing to keep in mind is the response from a supercharger is instant compared to a turbo, but it needs more RPM to achieve max boost compared To a turbo. But it’ll be interesting to see how the hybrid component changes things.

That’s true but depends on the type of SC.....but generally speaking roots-type most factory setups go with are more linear & similar to a big block vs most turbo setups....but look @ what the Germans have done w/ virtually seamless/& there’s a reason they & GM now have started the transition to hybrid & twin turbos (tt typically able to break up the TQ duties in the power curve)

roots based blowers typically suffer heat soak power loss & just difficult to keep cool in general, centrifugal blowers usually better in that regard but don’t really see em often w/ factory setups

Right, we already know the 5.2 uses a roots type blower. I agree that hybrid+TT is a pretty sweet setup. I mean if F1 is using it, it can't be that bad. It doesn't sound as nice as the V12's 10's and 8's but it has all the performance and then some.

no, not surprised at all if this info is true. the standard truck will still be a v6. the v8 version will be very expensive and the mark ups will be outrageous. even more so if they do a limited production run. the gt500 is not a limited production car and the markups are averaging 30k for the track pack cars. one dealer has one in the showroom with a 100k mark up.

And everyone has a different definition of "best" so there won't be a single best choice for everyone. For me, once horsepower is adequate, more is not better. I'd rather have range instead. The TRX 300 mile range is a complete non-starter for me. It's a joke if you ever plan to get more than 100 miles from the nearest gas station. Lower curb weight, better handling, and higher GVWR would also be higher on my list than extra horsepower. I have no interest in a blown V8.

I’ve been saying this for weeks. If you take the truck off-road and are in 4WD for an extended period of time that 300 mile range probably will go down to 200 miles.

It’s a cool truck and I like it, but it has some things that need to be addressed.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; I have someone close to me who worked at FoMoCo until very recently and maintains many of the relationships with people still there and according to them the Ecoboost V6 is still the flagship engine and will be the powerplant. And they haven't used any coy language either, and I don't think its a swerve either.

Plus the V6 hybrid is WAY more interesting than a V8, IMHO.

Look at it from TFL's standpoint. They get paid for views. They can say TTV6 with an electric assist, check back in a year to see if it's going to be MY2022 or MY2023, or they can say Confirmed! Blown Brodozer TRX-killer! Simply amazing! Stay tuned for details. Because maybe one in a hundred viewers will even remember today's video a year from now, it's a slam dunk. As an aside, our news media works the exact same way, and they're every bit as reliable as TFL. No wonder we're circling the drain.
