Can't that bolt just be easily backed out if the thief brings the right tool then? Unless its some weird ass fitting? That gatekeeper thing I mean.

True. But most of the thefts occur because it takes no tools and can be done in less than 10 seconds.

When I bought my truck the salesmen said remove the spare because all 5 Raptors on the lot got the spare stolen.

McGard all the thief would have to do is purchase one and then he has the key for everyones lock.

True, for less than $20 they can have a $3k tailgate. I don't feel safe anymore...

Probably the same on the masterlock too. I assume the same key works on all of them?

Funny! I don't live around many minorities, so I should be good.

I've been driving relatively new trucks for almost 20 years and I've never locked my tailgate and have never had one stolen... knock on wood. Just in case, after reading this thread, I took the recommendation from J DAMAGE and RDFTS and ordered the Mcgard Tailgate Lock from this guy on eBay for $14.00 w/ free shipping. I doubt this is any better or worse than the MasterLock that the OP had, but here in SE Michigan there are about a gazillion F-150s, so I don't think it would take much to deter a thief on to the next truck.

At the time of this post, the eBay seller had 2 left.

NOTE: The Mcgard model # for our trucks is 76029.

I added a pop & lock Pop and Lock It is about a hunred bucks, easy to install and make it so your remote locks and unloks your tailgate. When I leave my truck I naturally lock the cab and this automaticly locks the tailgate as well.

I plan on running a tire gate now and maybe figure out a way to keep valuable bolt in.... I wouldn't trust the console lock.

Check out FRF supporting vendor Lock 'Er Down security products for the console:

There's just something to be said about "Claymore Mines." Fantastic pieces of gear...that don't discriminate. If they were only legal for trip wire detonation.

Agree. If only this weren't a replica:
