So... What do you think about the new Raptor?

As a break from all of the engine discussion, one thing I don't like is the dual exhaust tips exiting under the rear bumper. Drag the bumper once and you are going to smash them flat.

How long will most keep the stock exhaust and stock bumper though... :ROFLJest:

I'm sure when Ford comes out with its GEN 3 in 2020, it will be taken care of, since it will probably be a 2.3 220volt electric motor with 500 lbs of batteries........... errr! (ever wonder how rumors get started...)

Well have you read the new rumors about BMWs' new M cars?

"According to sources within BMW, the next-generation M3 will be a plug-in hybrid. Yes, the next M3 and M4 cars (the M3 coupe was renamed M4 in 2014) will feature tech gleaned from the company’s i-Division, and the success of both the i3 electric city car and i8 hybrid sports car. And to put an even finer point on it, when asked for comment, BMW’s North American CEO confirmed that the rumors are true, telling The Detroit Bureau “We have to go that way.”

"With the hybrid system, the new M3/M4 cars are likely to make over 500 horsepower, a jump of 75 ponies from the current car, as well as a big torque boost, somewhere along the lines of an extra 73 pound-feet, bringing the total up to around 480. All power from the engine (likely to still be a turbocharged inline-six) will be delivered to the rear wheels, with the possibility of an all-wheel drive setup thanks to dual electric motors for the front wheels."

Your comment might be truer than you think in coming years! Ferrari is moving to turbo motors even though they dont want to...others are electric/hybrid/gas things....so who knows what Ford has on the drawing board.

I believe this has already been confirmed via horsepowerkings.com.

Although honestly the McLaren P1 uses its emachine quite well... the quickness seemingly defies physics.

Hell, maybe pinching the tips closed will give it a better exhaust note than the current weed whacker pitch.

please god let some variation of this motor make it to the raptor: Ford’s Voodoo V-8 Is the Most Interesting Engine of the Year

526 horsepower at 7500 rpm and 429 pound-feet of torque at 475...the result is a hellacious exhaust note unlike any other American V-8

I still think that a V-8 will come into the mix, maybe not the first year, but at some point. And maybe this is the motor.

Sounds a lot better than the lawnmower ecoboost motor:
