The car in the ditch incident was, if it is the one I am thinking of was a direct result of this allowed pass to gather a group back up. While we were sitting on the side of a public road not a trial the pass was made and the trucks making the pass hauled ass up the road, there after the only on coming traffic was blinded by their snow dust and ran off the road. As we began to move out we stopped to help this poor guy and he was not very happy at first but after a brief moment talking to him he was fine and a quick pull out and all was well agian.

Also if the said group was to be in the lead why we're they so scattered? And I am sure each and every one of us would gladly stop and help this was more of a patience thing as we fully intended to let them by, speed on trial was not the issue as our group was plenty fast and passes should happen at trail heads or trail exit.

That is the kind of civilian situation we don't need on an event this size where a local is negatively affected by our event. I feel one thing we could all do is remeber that speed on the transits will cause problems and if there are complaints made we will lose the rights to use the trails.

Now let's get this back on topic of this poll, more trial miles is still my main vote

You are absolutely wrong about the guy in the ditch being caused by our group passing not that it really matters who caused anything... this little blame game is ridiculous. The person was being pulled out of the ditch as we pulled up and were directed to pull behind Grant. We would have kept rolling otherwise. We sat there for a moment then passed. I have no idea what caused the guy in the ditch as I was not there and would never speculate as you seem to be doing. Also we did not haul ass when passing and did so in a safe manor on a public road as you stated. How could we haul ass and gather our people at the same time. Im sure I have gopro video if you would like to continue to make an issue of this. Your group even caught up to us briefly a little while later and A group passed us while we were gassing up after that. As far as why we wernt in the lead, not that its any of your business, but it was caused by a resturaunt delay. We even ended up with a member of another group due to this. Im all for keeping this on topic, but I will not tolarate any of these lies or attempts to make anyone on this run look bad. Im extremely happy with the quality of people that I met on this run, but I am not happy with these posts.

Edit... I have both front and rear facing footage of the pass... com's from front footage state that our chase had white out conditions due to the roads, not excessive spead at 1.2min after the pass. Raptors reported on chases tail at 1.25 minutes after the pass. First possible inbound car in the turning lane of an intersection at 2.2 minutes after the pass... at some point a truck from that same intersection ended up in our group, but I dont have video of the coms on that.

I'm fully content repeating the same format in '14, an additional day put in up front wouldnt be opposed by me ;) While a base hotel would be nice, it might take some of the adventure out of it. Id prefer to not sacrifice a good route/plan, due to being limited on our days distance in order to get back somewhere

As for post driving...Maybe noting a common meet location ahead of time in plan or at meetings. In houghton we found the masses at the bar(s) across the street, and at lac-view the food station at the bar was a great meet/greet/eat spot for large masses of people.

As for delays, i found them a good opportunity to chat with others, and don't recall one ever dragging on too long. This is inevitable, so no need to raise the heat over this.

I'd do the exact same thing again, and again, and again. I would prefer camping instead of a hotel, but not that many people exercise such poor judgement as tend to.

Oh, and more creamed corn wrestling.

It won't be exactly the same but I believe it will be even better.

The problem with indoor parking in the UP is.. well there really isn't any. The places that do have a parking garage don't have enough room for 55+ Raptors.

Also no creamed corn

My mistake no blame for whatever group you we in raptor wifey since no group names we used in this discusion. Now that more detail comes out the second group passing at that incident was done so with care and respect.

More trail miles!

Ummm, no pregnant wives....

This is my personal wish, and it is such because I am lame and don't get back up north as often as I like.

More trails miles, but with 1 added day. I wanted to spend more time in Houghton. I had a list of places I wanted to hit for a drink, but we got in too late. (There were circumstances for that so I know it will not be SOP)

Optional night runs around each hotel stop, after dinner type thing. A small group can go out and have fun with the trucks, or you can choose to stay in and have a few more cockntails.

I thought it was great. Maybe next year you can end up more on the eastern end so the drive back isn't so long, but it was nice for the western guys. Mix it up year to year.
