One thing that I wanted to do and couldn't, was check out everyones truck. Now I know you can not change that, but trying to look at mods whenever is -11 F out is crazy.

Although the snow storm that weekend wasn't out of the ordinary, the wind and cold was a little bit more extreme from the normal.

I volunteer my services for the pre-run, one idea might be to break up 4 groups and have stages each one runs, rather then a massive follow the leader type thing. Have one group go north, one south and meet up places after lunch they swap. Something along those lines. I also volunteer for delta chase or whatever chase for whatever joes group will be if he leads

Can't really break up and head different directions. Well we could but the groups wouldn't be ending up at the same hotels each night. The way we did it/will do it is really the only way it can happen and keep the larger group together as a whole. Otherwise you will have a group staying at the Island Casino while the other is in Houghton over 3-4 hours of highway driving away. This is why we broke it up into different groups leading

I like both suggestions for more trail time and a social gathering. My suggestion would be to try to end on a Sunday. That way it only involves one work week instead of two.
Wife and I had a great time at this year's event and were ready to sign up for 14 before we left. So, even if you don't change a thing we are in if we can get away.

This idea probably isn't going to happen. There was alot of people who didn't want to even get out of the truck because of the cold. Now how am I going to control what 60-80 raptors are doing when they are spread over 500+ miles randomly in the UP.

Plus then I have to get 50+ wiffle balls and randomly place them 4 weeks before the event.

Ya not going to happen.

To elaborate on the social event idea I was thinking maybe a dinner and bar setup in a conference room one of the nights. Just some place to hang and have a few cocktail.

Alot of us did this on the final night. I know it took forever to get the food at the Lac Vuiex but I can't control that. They knew we where coming and they dropped the ball. I talked to the head chef and he said it won't happen again.

Then we hung out around the Spots bar.

Its hard to get an estimate how many people are going to want to hang out after 8 hours of driving. With this many people you have to arrange stuff like that in advance. I can look into it for next year, but about half of the group wanted to relax and the other half wanted to party.

Its just easier to provide the venue for everyone to hang out if they want to or not.

Im workin on it. Remember all this has to be approved by someone at the State/Federal level

I can't control that. Imagine trying to swap a race rack.

You can have groups split up in different directions if you run it as clover leaf style event based out of one hotel. That hotel should be very happy to have us for 3 or 4 nights. I think the transit miles could be the same or even less. This is how a pro rally is run with 200-300 stage miles over a 2 days time.

I understand the point to point style and have no issue with doing it again. Mabe look at more stage miles with a smaller overall distance equalling less transit miles.

My vote is For more stage miles, start and end at the same hotel less raptors or smaller groups.
