[/COLOR]I'm getting really antsy to get in the field, and it's supposed to snow. Big Blue when you say big do you have to pull it behind your pickup?

Not that big, LOL. Its about the same size as normal home gas grill. A good amount of cooking surface, could probably do 12 burgers or 12 pancakes (with griddle) at a time.

I figure I will probably eat at the campground resturant Friday night (only because I will be spent from the drive), but I am also planning on cooking all remaining meals like yourself.

Starting to put together our list for the trip and have some question for you and the other organizers (mostly you though cause I know you're the one who's really in charge :) ).

Other than the group BBQ dinner what were you guys thinking about for meals? I know we are officially on our own but:

1) How much time is being allotted for breakfast in the morning / what time are we hitting the trail? I'm planning on cereal & the like but Nate well always request pancakes & sausages...

2) Should we plan on having lunch on the trail or will we be finding a local establishment?

3) Any interest in doing a potluck type thing for the other dinner? Bring your own meat & a dish to pass / we can have a few grills set up, the kids can roast weenies over the fire...

Sorry to pester but we're getting excited!!!

Awesome Donk, and you're not pestering, glad you're excited, so are we! And shhh with the me being in charge thing, don't want the guys to find out :angels2:

1. There is no set time to wake up in the morning, Joe put 6am on the original post to be funny and i later took it off :secret: I promise I won't let Huck play reveille or anything. So basically, give yourself as much time as you need to be ready to go at 8:30 am for the Drivers Meeting. Now the Campground does have a restaurant that normally opens at 8am. He is willing to open early for us if we have enough people interested in a hot breakfast. I'm thinking if he were to open at 7:30 it should be sufficient? yes, no, thoughts? We hope to be on the trail by 9am.

2. Lunch will be provided each day on the trail, picnic style. build your own sandwiches with a couple kinds of meat and bread, potato salad, fruit, chips, pop, etc... It should be quite the spread. But if you or your child is overly picky or if anyone happens to be pregnant, you'll want to bring something. (Pregnant ladies are recommended to only eat lunch meat that has been heated to the point of steaming) Also if anyone has an allergy, its a good idea to let me know and make sure you have your EpiPen. I know that Crazyhorse has some food options if you want to grab something to go to eat later in the day, or the campground may be willing to pack you something. EDIT: Just added Peanut Butter and Jelly to our lunch supply list..

3. I'm good with this. I know that Joe and I were planning on bringing beans to share. I've got to bring those famous beans that Motomute raves about, don't I? :party36: And we're planning on doing a little fire cooking ourselves. There is also the possibility that there will be left overs from Saturday Dinner or both Lunches... I'm sure no one will be starving Sunday night!

does your grill have a spot for wood chips? I could bring some beef roast's if we decide to do the potluck thing but I would need total grill control haha. I still have not looked back what night this would be. I still have to get my crops in so I better not commit too much. The closer we get the more I'll know. what would I need enough for 40 people about? main cores being the side dishes give me an idea of pounds I would need to bring. If we do the potluck thing.

We just signed for our time off, decided to make the drive on Thursday the 23rd to give us a little more exploring time and allow us to get rested up from the 16 hour drive. Just got off the phone with Keith at Wild Bill's and he said it wouldn't be a problem for us to get onto one of the spots early.

We plan to bring a small charcoal grill, just slightly larger than the normal camping style to do our cooking on.

I always love doing the potlucks, but not sure we have the time or equipment to prep enough to cover 44 people when we don't get back to camp until 6-7pm. I am just as happy cooking something up for the two of us and gathering around the same camp fire to visit.

Now a question to the locals, do you have bear problems? Do we need to plan accordingly for food and food prep supplies? Being a born and bred Texan that was transplanted to Missouri, we only have to worry about raccoons getting into things (craft little things).

I also just ordered a Wouxum KG-UV6D, programming cable and handset. Downloaded the software and watched the video instructions on programming it. I was going to buy from Trey, but really wanted to save the $50 and be able to reprogram it anytime I want. I will set it up before the trip. Will bring my laptop along just in case I have any issues with it and need to re-program it. Anyone else bringing a Wouxum KG-UV6D that is already programmed with the correct channels.

We're leaving out early Monday morning as soon as we can break camp to make the drive home.

Getting excited!!

Donk,

830 is drivers meeting in the morning, rolling out after that so how much time you need for your pancakes and sausage is your call. Just let me know so I can get there before it gets cold. Lunches we are planning to do on the trail if possible. Find enough space for us all to pull off and eat on the tailgates. Remember lunch is provided for the run. Sandwiches chips etc.

We originally thought of doing the BBQ our self, but after consideration for the prep time and all that it would take hours to prepare and cook. Small BBQs will most likely be the way to go.

To not duplicate efforts if there's something in particular certain people (i.e. Me ) should bring, lust lmk. I'm also partial to giving cash to local folks who provide bounds of beautiful beef and beans!!

Only beneficial thing i can think of from my domain would be Chicago's finest Vienna beef dogs & official condiments!
