Awesome Donk, and you're not pestering, glad you're excited, so are we! And shhh with the me being in charge thing, don't want the guys to find out
1. There is no set time to wake up in the morning, Joe put 6am on the original post to be funny and i later took it off I promise I won't let Huck play reveille or anything. So basically, give yourself as much time as you need to be ready to go at 8:30 am for the Drivers Meeting. Now the Campground does have a restaurant that normally opens at 8am. He is willing to open early for us if we have enough people interested in a hot breakfast. I'm thinking if he were to open at 7:30 it should be sufficient? yes, no, thoughts? We hope to be on the trail by 9am.
2. Lunch will be provided each day on the trail, picnic style. build your own sandwiches with a couple kinds of meat and bread, potato salad, fruit, chips, pop, etc... It should be quite the spread. But if you or your child is overly picky or if anyone happens to be pregnant, you'll want to bring something. (Pregnant ladies are recommended to only eat lunch meat that has been heated to the point of steaming) Also if anyone has an allergy, its a good idea to let me know and make sure you have your EpiPen. I know that Crazyhorse has some food options if you want to grab something to go to eat later in the day, or the campground may be willing to pack you something. EDIT: Just added Peanut Butter and Jelly to our lunch supply list..
3. I'm good with this. I know that Joe and I were planning on bringing beans to share. I've got to bring those famous beans that Motomute raves about, don't I? And we're planning on doing a little fire cooking ourselves. There is also the possibility that there will be left overs from Saturday Dinner or both Lunches... I'm sure no one will be starving Sunday night!
Thanks Joe, I've looked around some and can't seem to find any warnings for the Deadwood area. I just know when you get into Yellowstone area and out that direction that you aren't supposed to have anything that smells like food (cooking equipment, clothing worn while cooking, toothpaste, etc) in your camper/tent or vehicle. Because they will find a way in.
But usually camp grounds mention needing a bear safe if they have issues around there.
I know we had a camp ground mention their raccoon problem to us, we thought sure whatever. I bet we had 20 raccoons invade our campsite the first night, managed to unlatch the cooler and steal a package of tortillas before we moved it inside the tent. The next night we had about 500 boy scouts show up so we never saw another ****, but heard plenty of stories for a few days.
