No it will walk away from a Raptor. I have had both.

Ahhh Counselor--see what happens when you think:badidea:. Opposing Counsel wins.

Giving the Depends wearing Boob the above ration of reality the Raptor with a 5 Star programmer, CAI, exhaust is pretty fricking stout off road esp with suspension modifications and 37in tires. On the street it is at a disadvantage with the DI GM motor.

Point is 99.5 % of the Raptor owners will not get the most from the motor off road because of other reasons including driving experience to limitations of the suspension.

Faster yes..... That doesn't mean it has more power. I havent looked in a while but I believe gms trucks with the 6.2 are 402 or so hp while the ford motor is 411 but the gm truck weighs less.

i have driven the raptor -- in detroit last year, and i'm getting one for the show this year as well. i've also driven one on ford's test track in dearborn with SVT chief engineer Jamal Hameedi!

i have no inside information, but to clarify, i meant i'm waiting to see the 2015 f-150. in my opinion, 2014 is the end of the raptor. that is both sad -- ford makes an absolute killing on it (notice the price with option$ goes up each year as truck remains the same?) -- but also cool because it will be a limited commodity.

I agree 2014 may be the end of the Raptor. If you look at the history of SVT and the vehicles they have produced, history says it is time for the end. I hope it is not but time will tell.

What's all this talk about no more Raptor after 2014 MY?

Obviously, the Raptor is a huge cash cow for Ford and it's also a halo truck for the company.

Only a fool would walk away from those benefits and Alan Mulally is not a fool.

Since the next gen F150 is expected to be in showrooms around September of next year, figure on the Raptor being back about a year later (Sept 2016) or about 2 years from now.

Faster truck, yes! I own a modded 2001 Lightning that runs low 12's and a 2006 Jeep SRT-8 that runs high 12's, as well as an '03 Z-06 that's in the 11's. But I still find the Raptor has plenty of power for anything within its design envelope. I have no issue with those who choose to S/C their Raptor. I just suggested that a prospective buyer should experience the factory output before determining it is inadequate for his/her use!

I had an 04 Lightning that ran 12.1, and I still feel like the Raptor is good enough for me.. I don't use it for drag racing, I use it for what it was made for.

So, first of all, some haven't looked at the GM 6.2l in a while, because it puts out 420 hp with 460 torques.

I am confident ford could build a more powerful V8 truck if it wanted to, but I don't think it does.

And I don't think Alan Mulally is stupid, I've spent a lot of time with him and he is definitely a genius. But CAFE standards are tough to meet and SVT traditionally keeps models limited.

And I don't think of the Raptor as a halo car like a Mustang or a Corvette, used to draw buyers into showrooms. It's more of a super truck, like the off-road equivalent of a GT-40 -- since you barely ever see them!

By the way, I am the autos reporter for Bloomberg TV --
You can see any of my interviews with Mulally and other Ford execs on bloomberg.com.

He knows I love the Raptor! I can't hide it... ;)

Dude I will be the first to say, if this holds true, it will be a sad day for a lot of us. I really think they would loose a huge chunk of business. But after all what do I know. I am just a little oilfield guy.

update: i'm in a new raptor this week and ******* LOVING IT!!!

initially i worried it was too much power *stock*, as i was having trouble keeping the back wheels on the road in this icy/wet weather, but then i put it in 4x4 high and it's a totally different experience! so nice...

but i could still use a little more power -- just not sure how to go about it. do i go for the roush package, that does come with a nice new set of pipes? i guess i'd want to upgrade the springs anyway. or do i just do the springs and build the engine and love on the N/A power?

i wonder what kind of rear-wheel boost i can get with a built engine?
