I want to be honest with you.

What do you REALLY want?

Race Truck? Family truck? Teenage dream Queen? Mid life crisis *****? Where are you willing to **************?

Everywhere? Life is hard, be soft and flexible.

That is the question.

There is hundreds of pounds to save, but how far do you want to go?

Making the beast lighter is a topic I am really interested in. Working on a new alum rad setup and thinking of making a new upper core support in billet. Would come out weighing less. It's like backpacking, every little bit counts.

A little bit does add up, just don't want to keep cutting til your hand falls off

I can promise you that's huge weight savings. Every 100 pounds saved it a .10 second quicker in a 1/4 mile run. Usually translates to + .5 mpg.

And that is what this truck is all about - the 1/4 mile. :baby:

OK, so you're into acceleration with the Raptor. That's cool. But if you're serious about reducing the weight of the truck then do it right and remove/replace the box in back with something lighter like fiberglass. And gut the inside of the truck too. Yes, take off the spare. And run smaller, lighter tires.

Every vehicle weighs more than it could (and used to) because of size and safety and weight capacity. The concern about safety has driven the weight of vehicles up as manufacturers design for better crash performance.

He doesn't want to offroad just street and drag so why even bother? He'd be better off buying the above mentioned single cab and making it LOOK like a Raptor (with all fiberglass to save weight since Raptors are "pigs"). :banana-mario:

He should get the Tremor that's coming out with the 3.5 EB in 4wd and mod it. Lighter weight + more HP is a lot easier to get to go faster than trying to lose hundreds of pounds on a 6,000+ lb truck

That tremor looks pretty cool. Have livernoise tune it an it will be or fast mother!
As for reducing the raptor weight, there isn't muh you can do. The cab alone weighs so much with 4-5 layers of steel slammed together. Insulation, power seats, luxury, thick doors. There is a reason a Nissan Titan weighs over 1000lbs less.

Lose the bed, back seat, passenger seat, all interior trim, spare tire, cats, dump the exhaust with minimal tube past the headers, smaller lighter tires and wheels (unsprung weight is evil right?) go to a fuel cell that holds considerably less fuel.

Lastly if you are carrying some extra weight on you, lose it. I used to laugh at the guys on motocross bikes who would drop $400 on a TI bolt kit to save some ounces but were carrying 50lbs of fat they didn't need to be.

I'm 310lbs. So, by your logic, my GF would get better gas mileage because she's half my weight??? Hahahahahahahahaha
