true, we reduced weight from the driver's seat on back
low fuel even less weight on the rear
with worn BFG's we get wheel spin at 60 mph on wet pavement
People trying to pass catch a seizure when we light up the tires, get sideways, then run away.

Light weight, ethanol free and a Heavy Foot :driver:

I think everyone took my post a little too far. I never said I want to gut the interior or kill what the truck is made for. I'm talking about unnoticeable weight. Again, like performance brakes and rotors, with forged lightweight wheels. I would probably ditch the spare unless I am going off-road with, then it comes along. Lightweight battery, full exhaust, things of that nature. By no means would I want to make the thing a "drag truck" but where is the harm in cutting a few pounds while boosting performance? Losing weight is the absolute best mod you can do to any vehicle, but you can go overboard. Some people think I am ragging on the truck; Why would I do that when I'm trying to buy one lol. I am just looking at potential avenues of performance to explore with the truck. Could be a really constructive thread if we got some other good info thrown in like weight of various parts like stock rotors, weight of spare tire/rim with jack, etc. Just a thought.

He doesn't want to offroad just street and drag so why even bother? He'd be better off buying the above mentioned single cab and making it LOOK like a Raptor (with all fiberglass to save weight since Raptors are "pigs"). :banana-mario:

Bro, I have no idea why you are butt hurt right now. I don't remember saying that the truck wont go off-road because it most definitely will. I intend on using the truck for what it is built for, but also want it to perform well on the street too. If you don't have anything to add to the thread but your negative comments, then kindly leave please. There isn't anything constructive about your comments. I know I'm a new guy here but jeez.

I think you would be better off getting something like a Denali SS truck or Jeep SRT8, Those are seriously fast and you would feel the performance much more by cutting weight on those.

Cool, that was the hard part from the OP, what you wanted to do to and with the truck really depends on what you can or want to do.

I think wheels and tires are step 1. You could cut / remove the rear receiver if you don't plan on towing, and possibly go with a tire gate instead of the tailgate.

I thought about restarting a thread the same way as you described, just not sure how to construct it. However, I think in the Wheels and Tires section one of the stickies lists weight differences with the aftermarket wheels and or tires

Even though it may seem like it from my comments, going fast is NOT the primary objective with this truck for me. Ill have a car to be doing all my drag racing with. I would just want to make this truck better than it already is. Again, I don't know much about offroading at all, so for all I know, weight may be a helpful factor in that but I don't know. I'm set on a Raptor, the truck is freakin nasty...but I'm never satisfied with anything you can possibly make better.

I hear ya, There are lots of little custom improvements that can be made, and lot of fun to be had doing it,

Drill lightening holes in the skid plates, remove side steps, and I am not sure on the mass of the pinch welds vs weld fill, but you could trim a lot of the pinch welds and run a weld bead to hold them together. Cut away any interior trim of features covered by the rear seat backs, aftermarket exhaust.

The after market springs that eliminate the lift block on the axle might help a little or be a net gain. would polymer bushings be lighter that the rubber ones on the truck?
