Its just that guys with Raptors tend to add weight to the truck with things like 3.0 shocks bump stops, bead covers, linex, LED lightbars, HID,s, bumpers and bigger tires.
If you never been offroading much you might find out you don't like it especially in a big truck.

It is a big truck, but the thing to remember, the closer to stay to a net 0 change the better overall characteristics of the truck, so if you add 200 lbs in bumpstops, frame supports and whatever, you can try to offset that weight up.

In the end most of use will add 500 - 1000 lbs in aftermarket stuff. I wouldn't mind that being closer to 300 - 700 lbs instead.

My experiences with my other off-road trucks is that weight does become important in the handling and longevity of the vehicle overall.

Fun. Yes. But why not save some $$$ and get an FX4? Raptors are Raptors!

Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner

The guys here that know my truck would most likely say its very much a Raptor, even with all the mods that have been done. But as others have said a lot of mods add weight , so as this mod addiction of mine continues, cutting some weight down is becoming more of an interest. We were over 7000 pounds last time we checked and that's before all the spares get loaded on. LOL She needs to shed a little :)

You guys should definitely look into a sleeved block made of aluminum if you haven't already, and removing any unnecessary engine accessory drives

^^ Be pretty expensive to get the aluminum block I would imagine. What does ford charge for an aluminum core these days?

I agree, do what u can with what you have. Unless your going to composite components (carbon fiber, fiberglass) there's not going to be a big change in performance and MPG. Plus those light/strong parts are mega $$$.. Personally I'd rather spend the money on forced induction and call it a day.

I'm assuming it's for their racing truck, so they could get sponsorship through ford racing

You got a lifted truck with fat 37's? you like showing off? Better have a good excuse for when you get walked on.

That there is funny!

I'm going to put 37's on my truck and offset the weight with fiberglass fenders so I can keep from being walked on at the strip and on the street. :winner_first_h4h:

:hidesbehindsofa:

Remember: Just because it can be done doesn't mean it's the best idea...

Cut Wiz out of the passenger seat and save 120lbs soaking wet.

Bro, I have no idea why you are butt hurt right now. I don't remember saying that the truck wont go off-road because it most definitely will. I intend on using the truck for what it is built for, but also want it to perform well on the street too. If you don't have anything to add to the thread but your negative comments, then kindly leave please. There isn't anything constructive about your comments. I know I'm a new guy here but jeez.

Sorry noob, YOU called the Raptor a "pig" and all I said was you don't want to offroad (I don't recall you ever mentioning off roading it) just street and drag so why even bother? I said you'd be better off buying the single cab and making it LOOK like a Raptor. And that's the truth IF your interest is street and drag.

Don't get your ******* in a bunch. It's all good - you can do whatever you want to a Raptor and I won't get "butt-hurt" in the least. I hope you buy one and enjoy it. That's what it's all about.

Oh, by the way, this is in internet and everything is TYPED so try not to be so sensitive with the thousands of close friends and their comments on this forum :banana-mario:

Given that it's a 6,000 pound truck - I'll be surprised if anything simple you do to it will make a noticeable difference. If you're gonna run 35" tires I wanna see how much you're gonna save on unsprung weight vs. stock wheels, tires and brakes.
