It does suck the TRX has such horrible gas mileage, however, that power plant is awesome. I do prefer my Raptor over the TRX, only because reliability is an issue with FCA big time, I've been burned by them and it swayed my away from FCA. I am glad there is competition though, it will only make the next Gen Raptor that much better.

Full discloser: I had a HC Challenger immediately preceding the Raptor, and loved it.
The HC motor is powerful and robust, but a complete boat anchor.
To me, one of the best Raptor qualities is that it drives and handles like a sporty car.
The TRX will be an absolute super duty locomotive.
What amazes me the most,
is that so many of the TRX design elements are taken directly from the Raptor.
I know that they are on a low-budget program,
but couldn't they have designed something even a bit more original and compelling ??

I’d rather see the SC 5.2 V8 out of the GT-500 than 2 EcoBoosts for some variety. The 5.2 is 760 horsepower and an aluminum block so it doesn’t have the boat anchor effect. It would actually fit this platform nicely and hit TRX back.

If they offer a second motor it will almost definitely be a variant of the GT-500 motor. I think that might be a special edition a few model years in.

Who knows what that would entail but to me, I’d guestimate the base model being an updated version of what we already have in a fully-loaded Gen2 and the top spec version essentially being a TRX beater for those that care that much. I personally don’t see the TRX as a Raptor competitor in reality. It’s not going to jump and survive without frame damage what a Raptor can at the weight of a TRX. It’s undoubtedly an impressive machine - but not a looker and those tablet screens are going to be broken in 6 months from new...

How the F does the size of the screen make it anymore likely to break??
