It seems like it would be a better choice to have the 2nd option of a SC V8 for those who want to match TRX HP and get the V8 noises.

I tend to doubt they're going to do that, at least out of the gate. I could see it being a special edition option for a year or two later in the Gen 3 timeline. I'm guessing up front the existing HO motor with the already developed hybrid system will be faster to market and they'll look at doing the SC V8 later so they can say they technically stood up to FCA.

It's entirely possible. Also worth noting that I don't think anyone knows exactly how the truck world is going to react to the poorboost, both in it's driving performance and the generator feature. Perhaps Ford wants to see how that pans out before the develop a 'super truck' without that feature if everyone wants the powerboost.

For sure. So far the response to the F-150 Powerboost seems very positive and the generator feature is a big plus. I think plenty of people who want a toy would take a V8 over the generator feature but I think Ford will release the TTV6 Hybrid Raptor and find out people are plenty happy and they don't need to do more.

I keep thinking that there's going to be an aftermarket product developed that will take advantage of the generator and become a near 'must have' type of thing. I have no idea what that would be.

All they need to do is put bigger turbos on the existing motor and retune it and they will blow that fat pig trx away. My 2019 scab with a tune and intercooler does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. I think beating them with an ecoboost is the way to go.

TRX isn’t even competition, who wants a heavy truck with pretty basic shocks that will bend its frame the first real obstacle it hits, and my Raptor will just spin its wheels when I take the traction control off so how does adding more power help it go faster (more power is more fun just because).
Now some added instant torque from an electric motor would be great and could run my blender when camping!

There’s certainly plenty of potential in the 3.5HO still on the table. It’s tough to say what Ford may or may not do in the Hybrid/Electric motor assist category with the Raptor. The one thing we have to remember is that we don’t want the truck to be “too heavy”.

But again, as far as potential goes, and what Ford would/could do, all you have to do is look at the Aviator GT. It has the 3.0TT Hybrid system and makes 494/630...
