Bought a GoPro 8 specifically for this experience. First time learning and using DaVinci Resolve so don't judge my editing skills too harshly. This footage was from the August 7th class, which also had @Yeti Rojo and his wife along with the best driving partner one could have with @VGKRaptor!

Enjoy!

Tip: Watch in 4k.

So I’ll admit I’m damn near useless when it comes to planning. My wife backed out of our trip to park city which means I’m going it alone. This shortens the trip, makes it less expensive, and means I need to secure a v8 car rental to fill my time outside of raptor class.

I’ve been unable to find a rental in salt lake that can confirm a camaro, challenger, or mustang with a v8. I’m likely missing something. Any advice on how you got your mustang? Or from anyone else that’s attended the event and picked up a fun rental?

We just wanted a Mustang Convertible and I think the only place that had one was Budget. Turned out to be a GT anyways so win win. Look up budget at the SLC Airport. That's where we got it.

Just got back from class on Monday. I really enjoyed it! Jumping was cool, but I liked the baja course and the scenery on the trail rides.

you likely met a buddy of mine who was there Monday..we both live in the SLC area so he may or may not have used gaia to record the trails lol. bummed I can't attend even though I verified the original owner of my truck never did, looks like a blast

Looks like a great time!

For those that have gone - how much would you say you learned? About the truck and driving skills in general?

Just booked mine for October 5 - can't wait!

The instructor talked about how the class is designed for people to participate from those that have never taken a vehicle off pavement to those that run baja races. We actually had a guy in class that raced and still had a great time. If you are unsure of your skills you can take it slow, or if you're well experienced you can go all out.

No advice, but I was there a week ago and Budget only had F150s and Escalades available, just FYI. I ended up with a King Ranch F150, so I was happy about that.

I had reserved the F150, but a guy walked up to the counter while I was picking it up and asked if they had any rentals available and F150s and Escalades are what I heard the lady tell him.

For me personally, I did learn a lot about the truck. My previous 2 vehicles were Jeep Wranglers and I took them off road some so I do have some experience off the pavement.

That being said, I did learn about the limits of the truck and since I'm in Alabama and we don't have terrain like there is out west, I got to use some of the modes that I may not be able to use as much around here to really push the truck.

You get to take the truck around a dirt track in Normal, Deep Sand/Snow, Baja and back to Normal mode to see how it responds (acceleration, suspension, braking) in the different modes. So I thought that was helpful.

You get to drive it across a 32 degree incline to see what that feels like and then up and down a 24 degree incline using Trail Control, so that was cool. I didn't really know anything about Trail Control. You also get to use Trail Control several times out on the trail.

You also get to jump the truck. Everyone likes that and it was certainly cool, but I preferred the Baja course as it reminded me of my autocross days, except in a Raptor and on the dirt. Here are a few of my favorite pics from the trip. We were in truck #6.

Coming from Alabama, the scenery out there is great.
