Right. Members must have at least 1000 posts before they can be ******* to other members. LMAO!

Geeze, can't even sarcastically welcome a noob anymore without some other noob showing up to play knight in shining armor, what's happening to this place lol.

A 5.0 f150 will get better mpgs and tow/haul more than a Raptor. V8 for the win!!

Ummmm... Not necessarily. Nobody knows exactly what to expect from the new Raptor, fuel economy wise. That said, I've seen initial estimates at 17/23. Not bad!

Besides, as you know, the Raptor doesn't have a 5.0 option. So to get one, I'd have to step down to a regular F150. But wait... If I did that, why wouldn't I choose an Ecoboost that gets better gas mileage AND tows more?

Ecoboost FTW! LOL

I want to know your drug dealers name because you must be high as **** to think a high output 3.5 TT V6 with 35's and 4.10's is getting anywhere near 23!!! 2wd 3.5's are worse than the 5.0s

Lol, you haven't been here long enough to be able to make any sort of comparison.

Actually, I drive well over 90% of my miles/time on the pavement. So sue me if I'm interested in a vehicle that'll be "best of both worlds", so to speak. (Subjectively speaking, of course)

So, something that is quick on pavement (and off), handles well, gets at least decent fuel economy (because if you CAN have decent fuel economy AND gain power, why not?), and is capable of towing/hauling anything I need towed or hauled is just what the doctor ordered. In this case, the prescription just happens to be the Ecoboost powered gen2 Raptor. But, hey... That's just me.

Shew! Lawd have mercy.... Y'all REALLY don't like these puny, anemic V6s, eh? Lol

I do not disagree with you one bit. Ford knows that 90% of owners of Raptors use it only for pavement (and occasionally will take it on a dirt road, if that) and they need to focus on the majority of those buyers. I wouldn't consider it a towing vehicle as even for Ford, that is not it's intention. I believe the GEN2 will still be limited on towing as the GEN1 due to suspension. But it can tow a small boat and trailer which what a raptor owner will typically tow (there are those guys that like to push that limit though).

But to say the v6 is the "better" engine is what causes all the back and forth. The V8 can be made better than what it is but Ford is focusing on the Eco stuff and decided to put their efforts there, for the 90% raptor owners and to help meet the mandates put on them by the government.

Time will tell when we all get to compare the GEN1 and GEN2 and probably on pavement, the GEN2 will be a better purpose engine for that and will do just fine on dirt too.

I personally am waiting to see what Ford has to offer a few years from now as I think Ford has something else planned to surprise us with, let's just hope.

We get it...you think the GEN 2 is hideous, ecoboost is for *******, modded GEN 1 trucks are the best, you can go faster than other people off-road, and the amount of time you've spent posting these thoughts online means your opinions are actually facts and should guide everyone else's thinking as well.

Awesome. Thanks.

OK. Y'all win. Y'all's ***** are considerably larger and more girthy than mine. I shall bow out of this contest and retreat, downtrodden and clothed in sackcloth, to my domicile of ashes where I'll be doomed to plod through my pitiful plight in my puny Ecoboost.

Bingo, why I could really ultimately give two rats greasy nuts, drop some "other" engine 3 years later - hello trade-in how the F are you? Not, I'll be spooling like I am now but looking sweeter doing it!

I know I said I was bowing out, but I just had to address this.

FINALLY some actual, sensible, logical thought! Lol! I never said the Ecoboost was absolutely better or even the best. All I said is that, in my experience in owning 5.0, 6.2, and Ecoboost powered trucks, the Ecoboost has been the "best" for me... In my opinion... And for my purposes. That's it.

And considering the new Ecoboost platform is supposed to be "better" and more powerful than the first generation Ecoboost, I'm excited to own one. It's an extremely capable engine, regardless of number of cylinders or sound.

I would LOVE to see Ford come out with an "Ecoboost" V8! However, considering how much that would drive the price up on an already-pricey truck, I don't see it happening. Additionally, a close friend of mine works at Ford (engineering department), and he told me to not be surprised if Ford discontinues V8s in the Ford altogether.
