I think the entire basis for this original post is off.
Love the scare tactic. It ranks up there with "better wear a mask indoors when alone before you catch the covid".
Lug nuts are like rifle magazines. They are meant to be somewhat disposable.
What this translates to for automobile drivers is:
1. Yes during regular use they may become a little chewed up.
2. Yes you may have to replace one here and there and eventually replace them all.
3. Yes this will vary depending on several external factors. (times they have been taken off, moisture, road salt, and whatever else that may cause wear and tear)
did a brake job with my neighbor on his truck, it was at 75k and there were a couple lug nuts that needed to be changed out (was not a ford)
So in closing I do NOT think that means run out and put all brand new lug nuts on your brand new truck.
What it does mean is understand that they are a part, and parts get worn. So it would not hurt too much to have them changed out down the road and it may be smart to keep some at home for when that time comes.
