So for a first time for any protectant on the truck, how many cans of each would you propose?

If you buy a case off AMSoils site, it’s more than enough to do it. I forgot how many cans are in there exactly but it should be plenty.

I have a few winters on the truck - minimal exposure considering I live in the rust belt b/c I don't drive much and always try to avoid driving when salt is down. I need to get under there and wire brush some areas and POR15 to get it back to my standards, but don't have time before this winter.

If I go ahead and Amsoil MP to prevent more damage this winter, will I be able to remove all the Amsoil MP and properly clean and restore in the Spring?

Not if you want to do a really good job painting it. It does not come off easily. I’d recommend you Woolwax the truck since it stops existing rust.

LOL. Told mine to set me adrift in my boat and set it on fire so my sons in law can't have it.

Instead of POR15?

Yes. I’ve used POR15 extensively in the past and honestly, I’ve been disappointed with it. I’ve had many instances where it flaked off after some time had passed.

If you have some real bad spots, you could wire brush them up and POR15 them, but for overall protection, I recommend yearly coatings of Woolwax applied with shop air.
