the only difference here is the Howe kit comes with a pump so I wonder if it pushes more pressure?

I am liking the ease and cost of the spin off filter kit BUT I am worried that the stock pump may have an issue pushing thru the spin off filter where the magnefine probably allows better flow

Better than a week for me, and I can say have not heard any noise out of the system, so I'm 110% happy with the mod, where as before I used to get the buzzing as if I was low on fluid.

I have no doubt the magnefine flows good enough its the spin off I'm worries about. I'll probably just go the same route as u. I dont want to go thru all this and pick the other filter and fry the pump or something. The whole point of this is to protect it LoL. I just didn't want to spend all that on just the performance filter and I dont feel comfortable with the nylon one unless I can figure out how to make a bracket for it.

HOWE will be my next mod in this department....
J DAMAGE- I have the RPG reservoir and it does the trick but I was wondering. When your trucks standing still, can you turn lock to lock without feeling your pump or it's smooth operation with truck still?

Hey nick call greg, see if they sell the filter bracket from the PE filter, if they do I believe you can use it on the throw aways, the only way it won't work is if the filter circumference is different, other than that there built the same, the bracket would clamp to the inlet side. As for the spin on , the only way to get numbers, would be to put a gauge on the stock set up, get a reading, then put a gauge on the modded set up and see if there is a pressure difference.

The only issue I see with only adding the cooler is the fact that when offroading in slow technical environments, it could still overheat due to the lack of air across the cooler. Similar to how these trucks' engine temps go up while just sitting at an idle, the PS fluid in rides like we had during the Smokey Mt ride will still heat up and the cooler would be almost useless. Yes, you have more capacity, but that only means that it will take a little bit longer to get up to temperature, once the temp is up there, it will stay there without plenty of air flowing through the cooler.

That's what fans are for. ;$

I would tend to agree in most cases. But, with the electric fans barely able to keep the engine from heating up, I have my doubts about their ability to keep the ps fluid cool through the cooler. While they do pull some air through the radiator and ps cooler, I don't see them pulling enough air through to make that big of a difference there. Especially in the tight, technical trails where there is a good bit of turning back and forth between full lock out.

I will add, that doesn't mean I am against the cooler at all. I have one planned for my fix as well.

Stock replacment from autopartstomorrow.com $170 ish after core return. They paid return shipping. That's way better than the $350 the dealer wants.
