I think I just used a sharp pair of plastic cutters to slightly trim the fatness so it would slide off. Or you could use a razor blade to lightly trim it.

You transfer the clips from the oem piece to the new carbon fiber piece.

I broke a bunch of the metal clips that were on stock center console piece so I ordered these plastic orang ones. When I try clipping them it they won’t go in. What clips did you get?

They were tricky to get off the factory piece. I just worked them from both sides and they popped or flew off. I didn't need to get any new clips when I did it.
