JLT, I RUN 93 octane.

I have a bone stock motor (well resonator delete) and mine is installed identical to this. I run 92 octane Shell gas and after 5,000 miles I maybe have a 1/4 of the can full, if not less. I run Mobile 1 Full Synthetic, mine doesn't seem to be working very good. I do have the 'updated' screen in it also.

Yea I honestly don't understand why it pulls so much more than everyone else's. Ever notice any sparkles like the pic I posted?

Has anyone with a Roush SC noticed super fine aluminum particles in their oil catch can? I installed the Moroso version during my SC installation and have put just over 500 miles on it. It has collected about 1/4 of a container so far. Everything seems fine and there are no unusual noises. I'm assuming it may just be normal break-in of the blower (I know technically nothing makes actual contact inside), or machining particles from the air charge manifold??

Any updates? I checked mine the other day and my oil was sparkling in the catch can. I read that the metal could be from the filter the oil comes through, and that it would be very difficult for metal to make it all the way to the catch can from the crank. Here is why I got ae0823de051157c6c9353e07eabb25ab.jpg

Strange looking in deed. Have you taken a magnet to it to see if anything sticks to it?

Also, you may be getting a lot of oil due to your driving habits? Or if you have a short commute.

I travel about 50 miles a day. I do find myself coasting a lot which I have heard could be the reason for catching so much. I have not taken a magnet to it yet.

Bullet,

my particles look just like yours. I don't pull as much oil as you but the particles appear similar. I have tried the magnet, and mine are not attracted.
I also, cleaned my catch can, filter and lines. I still see particles beginning to appear.

I'm hoping someone can offer a clue as to what aluminum part could be producing such fine particles with no other performance or other signs of failure besides the particles. I'm just not familiar with the 6.2 and do not know where I should look or what I should suspect. Also, will be sending off an oil sample, but I'm sure they will flag for high aluminum...

I would have never noticed this problem during normal oil changes if I did not have the oil catch can.

@HAP I think it must be the filter, even though you cleaned it. I feel like it would be way to much of a coincidence for both of us to have something wrong internally. I had emptied mine once before and noticed nothing. Does your dipstick have anything on it?

I cant see anything on the dipstick. But I did cut open my last oil filter and the oil has the same particles in it. Nothing visible in the filter pleats, but the oil looks like yours.
I know modern detergent oils are formulated to keep contaminants in suspension so they travel to the filter. But the particles are just too small to notice if you are not looking at a small concentrated amount like our catch can cups.

I wonder how many other people will find something if they look closer.
