FWIW, my Dad always took his Navigator to Ford, they always refilled with the semi-synthetic. At 420,000 miles, he gave the Navigator to my brother. Engine nor Transmission were ever removed from the car, and it towed a 24' trailer full of concrete finishing supplies for 75% of its life. I think you will be safe with whatever Ford is using.

Ford always serviced my Gen1 same way, 100+K miles with zero issues on that as well.

I wonder WHO makes Ford Motor Oil and Filters? I know it's not them....rebrand, as is MOST brands we all use daily (Manufacturing at a national level is hard and there are few companies that do their own.....take car waxes and wash. Most are barrels made by big chem companies and the 'rebrand'er' adds a goop or requests to add a goop and call it their own).

I think I read somewhere (on the Internet... so you know it's true) that Motorcraft oil is re-branded Castrol.

That said, as always... I retain the right to be wrong.
