I discovered this thread while I was still in my Raptor buying phase. I told myself I'd get rid of my Camaro after buying the Raptor. It's still here, and I've put 5k miles on it and still keeping up with the maintenance. I WFH, so most of those miles have just been to run errands, visit folks, and going on spirited drives.
I get grumpier every time I encounter a pothole or a road with more bumps and craters than the Moon, which seems like more and more pop up each day. But I love the looks, I love the agility, I love when I find an empty twisty road and push the handling to its limits. After the road ends, the smile fades away.
Meanwhile, in the Raptor or the OBS 7.3, it's all smiles, despite the 7.3 being slow as diesel gets. I love hearing the exhaust notes. Potholes don't ruin my experience, and it's just fun to know I can handle the crappiest roads. Sure, they don't handle like a sports car, but I'd rather have fun 90% of the time, rather 10%. And then there's the practicality aspect: being able to take folks on road trips and nobody is feeling like anchovies, picking and dropping off oversized items on Facebook Marketplace,
I guess I answered my own question, and need to convince myself to do something I've never done, selling a car. I don't know if I'll regret it and miss owning a sportscar - maybe switching my wheels to 18's from 20's will be enough to make normal driving enjoyable. Maybe my tastes in cars have narrowed down to trucks with V8s, and I should replace it with a single cab F-150 5.0 for when I want something that won't be hard to find parking with, but also have fun getting to my destination.
