On a road trip. Stopped for gas at 400 miles of 1000. Getting back on highway. Herd a pop. Lost all gears. Coasted to the shoulder. No revers. No park.

It’s 11:30 on Friday. I have my family and all our luggae for a weeks vacation.

Wtf am I gonna do.

Ford roadside is getting me flatbedded to the closest ford dealer in eastern Kentucky.

That just sucks. Try to get to a bigger town with an airport.

I had a turbo crap out on a F350 that I was driving home from CA to MN pulling a 24ft trailer, with the wife.

Got towed to a small dealer in Susanville CA who tried to absolutely f__k me.

Part wasn’t available from the warehouse they used, even though I found it in stock in Reno an hour and a half down the mountain.

Small dealer refused my solution. Flew the wife home and spent a week twiddling my thumbs waiting for the repair.

Best of luck and hope that you get taken care of. Sending good thoughts your way.

Truck still under 5 year 60,000 mile power train warranty. So I am good there.

Ford roadside did not charge me for the ride. This happened right after we dropped my daughter at college. So her vw GTI was 10 miles away. Got an Uber to it at 1am.

Crammed a trucks worth of vacation luggage and 4 adults in her GTI and have been driving all night to get to Florida. Just very cramped

Waiting on the service to open. Seems like a bigger dealership GATES in Richmond ky

Having to put my faith that the service department will treat me right and have my truck ready when I come back in a week

Funny thing. When o was getting the truck off the flat bed. Had it in neutral and something popped. Now the truck had gears. We decided to not temp fate and try and drive it. Didn’t want to break down in a remote area at 3am

Will post updates when I get them

Would be weird to loose everything inside the trans, transfer case a more likely scenario.

Here is what I would do. Get it to a repair facility, at the same time start prepping for a rental vehicle. If the repair is going to take more than 1/2 a day get the rental and go on you vacation, pick up truck on the way back.

Here is why I say that.

I have watched a family of 6 from Idaho traveling on vacation break down and sit in a hotel for 9 days in boring ass Layton, Ut just to turn around and go home, once vehicle was repaired, vacation ruined.

I have also seen others who either husband or wife grabbed the bull by the horns, took control of a bad situation and did what I suggest you do. Vacation only slightly altered but not ruined.

Fact is if it can't be repaired fast, you are f u c ked. Make best of the situation you can. The reason I say 1/2 a day is lets face it, anything more will turn into a least a day and then could turn into "it will be finished in the morning" and so forth. Cut the cord and go on vacation.
