There's a software update for the NAV-TV unit. I was one of the original guys noticing this issue. They sent the NAV-TV guy(s) to Michigan to resolve this. They offered to come to my place but we had a weather change for the warmer. Basically they had to bypass a line or a few of code when it's so cold out to allow the startup.

You have to call NAV-TV and setup an appointment. You'll need your module, don't recall which of the two, your original USB cable else one of the exact same type (usb's with the same ends still can be different), a laptop/PC with an internet connection and you'll have to allow the NAV-TV support person remote access to your PC. *BTW I think it has to be a Windows PC.

They may allow you to ship it back to them, but I wanted mine fixed ASAP. I haven't had any problems since the update, *did the update over a year ago now.

Thanks!

I wanted to do a little more digging before contacting NAV-TV as the only replies I've seen from them (nothing recent) were saying it wasn't their equipment.

I'll get with NAV-TV for the update.

NAV TV has a firmware update to fix the cold temp issue, though it's not officially released. I received the new files via email and uploaded them to the modules.

Right now it's too warm to tell if it worked, but it will be cold enough later this week. I'll report back on the cold performance with the update.

See I was told a year ago that there was no such issue or fix. I ripped it out and sold it.

I can't believe they didn't officially release it. I know their in Florida, so maybe they wanted more testing...Damn I've seen the cold temps a number of times since my update...

I would call and complain. I would try to get one at a much better cost, especially if you told them you couldn't get it to work and sold it due to the issues....I disabled mine until they got me a fix.

Last year I brought in my truck because the display was dead and then I realized that they might find the NAV-TV and void my factory warranty and ESP warranty on the electronics. I already gave them the keys and had a work order made up, waiting in the waiting room. I quickly told them that I had an emergency and needed my truck ASAP and left. Started thinking about if I ever have an issue in the future, will have to pull it out and put back in. Figuring how much of a pain it is to do and I honestly didn't feel that the feature set it provided was just not worth the risk and hassle and preferred the peace of mind. Even if I was given a free NAV-TV, I would not install it. Cost me $165 to install and remove.

I can't speak as to why it's not officially out on there website, but it has worked so far. The past two mornings have been between 20-25 F, and I've had no problems. Previously it would not work below 35 F.

If you have the cold weather problem with the NAV TV, contact their customer support and get the new files for the modules.

Seems like another NavTV failure here. It was 18 degrees F out tonight and no screen whatsoever. Couldn't turn on the heated seats and radio or perform a vehicle diagnostic to see what is wrong either. Who do I need to contact about getting these updates? Did you just call this number listed on their website 1-866-477-3336 and ask for the unofficial update to cure the cold weather blues?

*Edit update* I called and after a couple of weeks of phone tag and emails they helped do the update and all previous problems are GTG.

Thanks for making the decision to NOT go with NAV-TV. Sorry you're having issues!

I've been on the fence about NAV-TV myself, yet I damn sure am not gonna spend 5 bills to do without a stereo.
