Started up my 2014 truck remotely this morning since 18 degrees out. MyTouch won't come on. Noticed it when backing up, no camera, nothing screen is off and won't turn on. Shut off truck, pull key and open door and start again, nothing. I drive to the bank in silence as there is no radio and no heated seats!!

Get to bank, repeat off and on, nothing. Drive in silence again. Get to auto repair shop not for this but some other work scheduled today. Try again and now MyTouch works and comes on. First time this has ever happened.

WTF?

I have the same intermittent issue with my gauge cluster display. It won't work for several days, then it will work normally for weeks. I'll wait until my first oil change to have it looked at because it doesn't affect anything I need to see on a daily basis. The Mytouch being dead would really **** me off though.

i have had the same issue a couple times with the extreme cold temps, but it would last about 5 minutes. since we dont get temps like that very often, i dont see it a lot. my guess is the nav tv unit is below an operating temperature and needs to warm up

although i have noticed that not all of them do this.

Man, hope you get it sorted out. Honestly, the electronics package is the main reason I extended my warranty to 7/100.

When my sister lived in Fairbanks, they had three heaters on their primary car. One of them was a ceramic/electric hearter in the cab. I would hate to have to think you had to keep the cab warm to keep you electronics working.

Well that sucks, I had no idea that the Nav-TV was going to be affected by cold weather. Is there a way to temporarily disconnect it without tearing the dash apart? I would rather have MyTouch working during the winter reliably than having the Nav-TV features. @The Car Stereo Company

2013 Touchscreen intermittently not working

I've been having an issue where first thing in the morning when I start my truck the touchscreen radio is black and doesn't work. Shutting off the ignition and trying to restart it doesn't fix it.

However, if I leave the truck off for awhile it seems to work again.

Anybody else experience this problem?

hayvenhurstkid 12-11-2013 05:55 PM
I'm not experiencing that problem.......yet but my navigation system SUCKS and the voice recognition is spotty at best. I have the latest software update but the navigation system basically has no idea where the truck is once you get within a few miles of your destination. Both my dealer and Ford are working on the problem but not sure what can be done until they come up with a software update that actually works!!

Helmer 12-11-2013 07:22 PM
I'm experiencing the exact same thing. However on a 2012 and only since I've installed NAVTV. Havent had a chance to look at it being winter and cold out.

I also have the NAVTV kit. I installed it over the summer and haven't had any problems with the screen until now.

I haven't had any problems with my navigation. But I still use my Garmin when traveling because it's a lot better.
voice recognition on my 2013 is much better than it was on my 2011.

Whats the temperature like when this is happening? I used to have a huge Clarion touch screen in my car, and around -16 or colder it was useless and remained black till it warmed up. Thats -16 celcius by the way, so like 3 farenheit(ish).

RaptorMan2013 12-13-2013 10:03 PM
I just got the screen on my 13 screw replaced. I only have 1,500 miles on my Raptor and the screen never worked when it was cold. It would come on but until the temp of the screen hit 50 degrees (used infrared thermometer) I couldn't use it at all. I made a video of it not working with my Iphone and took it to the dealer and they replaced the screen. It was -45 this week with wind chill in Duluth MN. I really want the nav-tv kit was it hard to install??

Tim118 12-16-2013 03:48 PM
The temperature varies when it doesn't work, but it seems to only have started happening when it got colder.

It wasn't bad to install, took a couple of hours to cut and splice all the wires. But now they have a plug-in kit which should make it really easy.

I was having issues with my system for quite a while. I finally disconnected the battery to completely reboot the system and that did the trick. No guarantee, but worth a try. Im happy now.

Never did get my 2013 fixed.. Now I've got a new 2014 with the NAT-TV interface.. as soon as it got cold outside the touch screen fails to power on in the morning.
Anyone else having this issue with the NAT-TV interface? I find it hard to believe Ford would make a touchscreen that doesn't work when it's under 40F.

Nav-TV versus the cold

Mine has started acting up in the cold as well. It was fine over the summer but now the temp has dipped in Northern MN and on two occasions over the last month I have got in it the morning and no power to the screen or radio. Restarting the car doesn't help. Pushing buttons doesn't help. When I come out to my truck at lunch it will be working again. Let me know if you find a fix.

Touch screen issue

Hello Forum Members,

I had a little meeting this morning with our Engineering Department to get a more information about the the touch screen issue and they said that is not related with our integration kit.

The touch screen commands are inside the radio, which we don't have access. The only thing that our integration does is filtering the information from the truck to radio, so we can enable all the functions in motion. We don't change the way that the radio works.

If you still have any questions feel free to contact me at [email protected], I will be more than happy to assist you...

Thanks and have a great day!!!

Let me just clarify, it's not just that the touch screen doesn't work. It's that the whole screen is black and doesn't come on. If the NAV-TV interface were to actually fail. Would the screen still work normally?

Diesel1 11-13-2014 01:51 PM
I don't have the NAV TV on a 2014 with 3K miles and I've already had a black screen which meant no controls for radio or nav, etc.

I unplugged the negative battery cable for a few minutes, reconnected and it has been fine since....has only been around 500 or so miles.

Let me know what the dealer says.

NAV-TV 11-14-2014 10:12 AM
The actual elements in the screen freezes when it is under certain temperature. Try to use your smartphone after leaving it outside for the whole night, I am pretty sure you will have black screen for a little while.
The same thing happen with the car.

Just to try to identify the problem I encourage you guys to unplug the NAV-TV interface and put the car back to factory and see what is going to happen in the next morning. Please let me know the results and we go from there.
