I called today and they said they should be ready for the public in a week or so. I left my name and number they will give me a call when ready to ship.

I have a question:

If you have a limited slip or this Wavetrac installed in the front, how does it affect those of us who live in heavy snow/ice locations?

If a rear diff is locked it will slide out in a hard turn on ice, my understanding is a front limited slip (if both tires are under power) will "snow-plow" or push through a turn as opposed to free wheeling one wheel.

Whats your take on this?

I have been debating an upgrade on my 2010. but i think back to 20 years ago and a limited slip front diff on ice was a nightmare.

Feedback?

I am from Alaska and have had many vehicles with limited slips and lockers both. I certainly agree with you and a locker on ice however i have found a limited slip differential to be a lot more forgiving. We tipically have snow or ice for about 7 months a year and most 99% is snow on the roads not ice. I do not run studs or sipe the tires I just run the BFG All Terrains all year. All that to say i believe the limited slip will be a big asset 99% of the time and the other one percent I will be very carefull on the ice but i do not feel it will be dangerous. Just my two cents.

I 100% agree about the snow conditions, I am scared to death on ice as I drive about 25,000 miles a year on icy roads.

This is one thing I am seriously considering, but it worries me a ton

My experience with my 2012 with torsen verses my old 2011 without in snow and ice. I feel a lot more confident in the 2012 in 4wd (unlocked rear diff) on snow and ice than 2011 in 4wd. The best way I can describe the difference is the 2012 feel like a front wheel drive car. You can actually feel the truck being pulled verses the 2011 is being pushed. The power is going to the wheels with grip, and sliding (drifting) the front end is harder to in the 2012 verses the 2011.
The bad part is that it is still a 3 ton truck, and the great traction/acceleration gives a sense of over confidence. Until you apply the brakes at it becomes a big sloppy pig with stock tires. Using tow/haul and engine brake works better than just using the brakes in slick conditions.
No one has officially confirmed any changes in the traction control system between 2010-11 and 2012. There seems to be some tweeking to abs system and traction control system to work with the torsen.
