I've done all the recommendations except reset my iPhone. Text messaging stopped working when I did the update. iPhone 6 9.2.1

Under bluetooth settings on the phone tap the information circle for the SYNC device and make sure show notifications is on Settings > Bluetooth > SYNC > Show Notifications.

So far my customers with the iPhone 6s Plus have been able to use the feature with no problem.

I think the issue is specific to your device. You may want to try resetting your phone at this point.

Remove the pairing record under devices on the MFT and forget the Sync Bluetooth pair on your phone under Settings > Bluetooth > then tap the information circle and choose forget this device. Re-pair and good to go

Pair the phone with MFT after deleting from both sides

Then you have two options, reset network settings on your phone or master reset with MFT
