My dealer was asking $6,000.00 below MSRP for the last new 2018’s. All are gone now. Keep looking, deals are out there.

There are some out there, just have to keep looking. I lucked out and was able to buy locally under MSRP, which to me was good given the ADMs I still see people running into in other states. Wasn't a truck at invoice, but it was under MSRP and the truck I wanted so I'm pretty happy with it and consider it a pretty good deal given what was out there in my area.

I bought 2 2019s at MSRP in Texas a few weeks ago. I think based on that those dealers might work a deal on a left over 2018. One was stolen the first day I had it. I bought the first one from Big Star Ford in Houston who I don't really recommend because they're just pretty ******. The replacement was from Red McCombs Ford in San Antonio who was mildly less ******. I talked to that Grapevine dealer as well and they told me $10k over MSRP. I'm from Utah so I went to Texas to buy because my local dealers were gouging as well.

back in about October of 2017, as you can imagine, there was a lot of demand for the Raptor. People were actually paying 10 and even 15k over MSRP then, not many, but a few. Urban dealers would sit on these trucks with smug confidence that some sucker would pay that much over. Most of them were only partially wrong, and they ended up selling for MSRP, or slightly over most of the time. I recall that lasting until about late spring, early summer of 2017, when things started to calm down, but not by much.

When the 2018’s became available, that’s when I started seeing folks reporting under MSRP deals more frequently.
My observation has been the urban and suburban dealers close to the urban areas or ‘commuting’ distance close, have been far less willing to negotiate.

I also hear this as a possible reason for the prolonged ADM. MegaFord sells more trucks than <insert tag line here>. Hamburglar Ford 100 miles away secures several Rap allocations. MegaFord offers them - we’ll say - 2500 under MSRP for the truck. Now, MegaFord has to sell that truck for 2500 over MSRP so the sales bot and sales mangler can still have the over the lagoon hut in Tahiti instead of the peasant lodge on the beach. In other words, dealer 1 gets not only their allocations but buys from other dealers and marks up the dealer bought trucks. I don’t know how true this scenario is, but I’ve read it here on FRF many times. It’s on the internet, so it must be true, right? :)

We’ve had dealers come on here sporadically and post deals and back in ’17 we did have some ‘go to’ dealer threads, as well as wall of shame dealers listed.

It’s too bad we can’t get stickies in the forums because it would be great to maintain a list of “Are they crazy?” dealers and a list of “dealers willing to negotiate” - not necessarily a guarantee of a good deal, but also not crazy like the ones bitterly clinging to their 10k over MSRP ADM.

what are they selling the 19s for?

I paid $1k over invoice. They were also willing to give me more for my trade than other dealers that I spoke with (trying to buy an 18). They had already placed an order for a 19, but it had not been pulled yet. They stopped it, changed it to my specs, then replaced the order. Elkton Ford in MD was great to work with!

@f150jack I'm in central TX but made the trip to Houston a couple weeks ago. I was able to go 2k under on a new 19. Not sure if the dealer has any 19s, but shoot me a PM if you want the dealer info. That's a haul from DFW but might be worth it if your buddy is looking to save some money.

I appreciate it, I honestly think he might get a better or equal deal getting a 19 but for some reason he is set on an 18. Debating out of state trip and drive it back like others have mentioned. thanks for the input/advise.

Just remember that an out of state trip has costs associated: flight, possibly hotel, food, gas, and the trade process can get more complicated. Also, there are intangibles, like time away from work and family, and you can't inspect it yourself until you've committed to travelling (I have seen completely new cars with terrible swirl marks from bad dealer prep as well as bad repairs from shipping mishaps), I have also bought a car on a fly-and-buy that in my gut I knew I should walk away from, but I couldn't bring myself to just fly home and eat all the time, effort, and money I'd put in. These are things that no one on here can factor in but you.

For instance, I bought an '18 in January at $1k under msrp with a fair trade, and it "priced" out for me just about the same as another '18 that was about $4k below MSRP but was 600 miles away, wasn't my first color choice, didn't have the options I wanted, and would have cost about $2k in flights, hotel, and gas to pickup and drive home, not to mention at least 2 days away from work and family.

Just a summary, don't buy in TX. I searched and had pretty much the same results, I can't remember which dealer but one wanted 10k above since the truck just arrived.

If your friend wants below MSRP he will have to look out of state period.

Yeah, Raptors move fast in the land of trucks.
