Leave them at grandparents is the best idea so far! :peace:

My daughter does love to go with me when I take the Raptor off-road though. So she's my partner in crime in that respect.

Problem is that I'm going to see a grandparent. Would't look right showing up without the little buggers.
Was thinking about a designing a table or mount of some type that goes into the rear cup holders that can hold a DVD player or computer. Does this even exist or do I have a project on my hands?

How long is the drive and how old are the children? If anything just get them video game systems. My daughter is pretty much content with staring out the window, but she has a DSiXL, Leappad, and Leapster, and they keep her entertained.

When going on long trips as a kid my mom just told us to **** or she would leave us where the cannibals were. That seemed to work.

But in the long run, I believe a headrest mount and tablet is the best way. Just load it with movies and you are good to go. If you have a laptop just get a power converter thingy and maybe rig up a ghetto mount like you said in the rear cup holders. The only problem I see with that is losing the rear cup holders, my daughter does become a diva about holding her own damn drinks.

The drive's gonna be about 4+ hours.
the kids are 2 1/2 girl and a 6 year old boy. One has a moby go and the other a leapster.

We drove to the cape last weekend an before an hour had passed my wife was crying in the front seat. ( Hence looking for a bridge abutment)
I have allot of experience with plastic and should be able to pull off something "Raptor " worthy for this trip. Hey, I'd buy the damn kids each there own Ipad if it saves my sanity.

Headrest dvd may be in the cards or lengthy jail sentence.

I would vote Ipads, or any other tablet, that way you can load it with movies and games. Plus take them out of the car and still have entertainment!

The setup I'm using for my son if from NextBase. You can get either a DVD player (3 or 4 different size screens) or an iPad mount. I went with this options because the mount is clean and sturdy and allowed me to hard wire in all the connections. The mount clamps to the headrest stanchions and you can run the wires up into the headrest, down through one of the stanchions and make all inside the back of the seat ( just zips open). When the kiddies need to be entertained the player or iPad mount just slides onto a wide T-slot. No other connections required!

I went with the DVD option because 1) he's all ready got a DS and a bunch of games so I didn't see the need to buy my 8 year old a tablet 2) didn't have to support the fascist organization that is apple and 3) they offer wireless headphones so we don't have to hear Alvin and the Chipmunks for the 5 millionth time!!!

Here are a few pics
