Man this turned into a heck of a healthy discussion. I agree that the scoop is culpable for these trucks and their loss of power and in speaking with several tuners they’re seeing the same thing. Crushed / weak / pinched scoops and I’m sure there’s a ton of environmental factors that affect this as well. But nonetheless, breathability and restriction on a twin turbo truck is what we are all looking to improve, maintain or prevent. I would imagine it matters less with the open top CAIs but I’m def interested in seeing the AFE DAS scoop I ordered for my ‘24 and comparing it to my stock to see how rigid it is and how much more open it is. It might be minor but I think all of this is apart of the fun in discovering what works and what doesn’t. Again even if it’s just improving mileage then it’s a helpful support worth investing in. IMO. But everyone has their right to choose what path they wish that confirms their bias. However, there is data out there and not hard to find by just googling around these improvements and so while everyone behind their steering wheel can claim “they know it doesn’t improve or do anything” none of y’all got a dyno at home or are actually testing for the numbers.
The nice thing with the scoops is you get the coldest charge temps possible when compared to pulling air from the engine bay. Probably wouldn’t be a big deal if the intercoolers were larger on these things.

That is a great call out! And reasoning for not going with open top CAIs
Although you get more of the whoosh sound from them
You’re going to get the coldest input from a quality scoop. I really wish the COBB carbon fiber scoop was fitted for the ‘24s but sadly after speaking to them they only have fit bet up to the ‘23s. So we shall see what quality this new DAS aftermarket scoop from AFE will bring. I got a note today it was on back order but will be shipping soon!

I love working on my truck and seeing under the hood of vehicles.

Again not true as you stated you are not a mechanic, you only “read” something somewhere that told you something that fit a bias for how you want your truck. There’s a lot of context your missing in that statement about “metered air.”
For those of us who are speaking with tuners, mechanics and engineers, we know it does provide a benefit and supports better fuel mileage. It’s “cleaner” and “colder” which helps support the health of how the fuel and air mix and therefore provides better performance.
Many of us are doing more than just CAI.
Hopefully installing the CVF CAI on my 24 this week, plus their titan v2 intercooler, hot and cold pipes and the inlet tubes. Their CAI shows it fits 21-23 but the rest says it fits up to 24’s… At this point without a tune for the 24’s I’m hoping to lower the air temps and make some more noise with an actual BOV on it. I had the boomba bov on my 23 and smiled ear to ear everytime I heard it!

I just got the boomba to add into my CAI and boost tube install, would you mind posting the link to the intercooler you got?

Would be interested to know how hard/easy it is to install your boost tubes and hot and cold. I hear they’re a pain but maybe with you removing the front to install the intercooler it will make things easy for you.
You went with a front mount intercooler correct?

This is the one I got with all the tubes with it. The tech that is installing them just did them on a 2019 and a 23. He said they take some time to get in, took about half a day to do hot and cold side. I’m in the fence of taking the flaps out, but with the modular number of the 24 it’s a huge open space to the intercooler then.
