Hey everyone.

I just got my dream truck. I purchased a 2018 raptor 802a 44k. Love the truck.

my question is the dealer wants $3900 for an extended warranty which adds 5 years and 75k on top of what I have. I have about a year left on powertrain.

should I buy the warranty ? Should I wait a year and get a warranty from
Someone else ? Does Ford take warrantees from other companies and which ones.
Truck runs great. Just worried about the cam phasers going.

I appreciate your time

First, welcome! Post some pics of that beast! (otherwise we assume prius :p)

Second, I would take a look at Flood Ford. I didn't know about it before the I got mine but I wish I did. They're a Ford dealer somewhere northeast that sells Ford warranties at cost and won't price gouge you for the same thing. Don't waste your time or effort on another company, just get a genuine Ford one and call it good.

I just bought a Flood Warranty myself but with your trucks age and mileage, Flood may not be an option

Welcome to the place. I wouldn't pay that much for extra warranty myself, these trucks are very reliable as is. Get any warranty work or concerns done now before the warranty is up and then just keep it maintained properly.

Dealer extended warranties are a waste of money. They don't cover much and most of the parts that need replacement are wear and tear items that are not covered in any Warranty.

I got mine through my credit union. It was 8 years or 100,000 miles. And only 2k. With no deductible. Covers everything minus tires and fluids/filters/wipers.

Also, consider that if you like or plan to do mods, especially those affecting performance in the engine bay or tuning, it is possible that Ford will deny warranty coverage of engine or suspension related issues if they decide your mods might have caused an issue.

No they aren’t lol? Any little issue, you can take it in for warranty work and get a nice loaner vehicle to drive. They gave me a brand new, 30mile 2019 Texas Edition F150 to drive. No complaints here. Mine is getting 3 small leaks fixed and the seat heaters replaced on driver seat. I have the Esp Premiumcare 100k mile warranty.
