You also do not HAVE to throw it away, if it is clean and has been changed regularly, you can actually pour it right back into the crankcase. No need to discard the oil from the catch can.

I think you have lost your mind! I am sorry but this is why you never take any advice at face value on a chat board. People should know what they are talking about before hitting the key board.

Understanding the Need for a Proper PCV Oil Separating Catch Can

Decided to empty mine today. Lots of oil with the new filter (but I never ran the old filter so I don't know if there's a difference). Only 3-5k miles and the oil is melted milk chocolate color. Wreaks of old ethanol gas. adetu4e9.jpg

Does anyone else think the jlt is a pain in the ass to empty? It's really crammed up in there...

Don't know why your oil is that color, hopefully some with a lot more knowledge than me will chime in.
I use a step stool to reach in under the hood to reach the JLT. Never really had a problem getting to it this way.

I saw that some ppls oil looks like a cup of cappuccino. To me that looks like the oil was burnt or something? I'm guessing mine is has more concentration of oil? Idk, I'd like to know as well.

Ordered mine this morning. I have 5K on the clock so hopefully not too much damage has already been done.

Cause: - is from Condensation- which we all know how - H2O mixed with oil - can give this look.

The old screen kind of look sort of like a 20 oz soda cap. The upgraded screen is long and thin maybe an inch long with the diameter of a pencil.
If you go on JLT website they should have some pics.

Mine looks like cappachino as discussed a few pages back - someone said I drive short distances and don't let it warm up long enough - ding, ding, ding. WINNER!

1.7 miles to work and my neighbors get pissed at 0500 when I start up the MBRP so I pretty much leave right away.

When my daughter was born I had to stop driving my M3 and Evo because the turbo back exhaust would rattle the whole house when I started up in the morning.

Not sure if this is just me or not but for anybody with the updated filter I would check the reservoir about every 500 miles. I have checked mine twice now with about 500 miles in between and it was full. I used to check it with the old filter every oil change (every 4000 miles). I can't believe there is that much blow by in my NA motor just have intake exhaust and the 5 star 93 perf tune. Of course it has been pretty cold here. And mine looks very milky.
